@Steve

Ouch... hope you didn't lost anything valuable... :(

I have a friend in NYC who lost her car, flooded to the roof... The insurance told her they'll reimburse the car, but she fears it'll only be a fraction of its value...

What's wrong with the weather in the USA??? Can't be JUST a coincidence if so many grim events happened this year... there really seem to be a climate shift (and I don't believe in the global warming...)

Jean, I'm sure you can extend your thinking further than "LOL"! ;)

There can be some climate shift without a global warming. For instance, since two years the sun is abnormally very little active (much less sun-spots and so on...), and emits less radiations, hence cooling down the Hearth.

Hi Julien
i managed OK
only had some damage to some trees
power was out for about 18 Hrs.

as to the bizarre weather ..to make matters worse...
last Tuesday we felt the effects of a 6.0 Earthquake ..with my desk shaking under me while i sat in my office in Manhattan
i thought the Bldg.was collapsing..lasted about a minute
it is the first time ..ever..in recorded history that NYC was hit with a Hurricane and an Earthquake in the same week.. or even month.. or even year

Strange Days Indeed Regards

Only extremely uncommon weather events become world news. :D

Weather here in Pennsylvania this year seems pretty much "typical", at least based on my short time on the planet.

Hurricanes striking the Northeastern US are an expected event.

I have figured out the problem but nobody believes me. The global warming is caused by the widespread practice of daylight savings time. That extra hour of Sun is warming things up :-)

Hmmm....it sounds like the solution is even cheaper than I ever thought possible then. It also sounds like a solution we can implement at the last second to avert disaster, so we might as well ignore the problem for a while longer.
