Nice Tourney! :)

BTW, there is also a new version for RedQueen (1.0.0). It has some minor optimizations for 32 bit systems...

Thanks for the update Ben-Hur! The latest release is too late for the ongoing tournament, but the previous version of Redqueen won group E and did really well after promotion to group D, so congrats with that achievement!

No problem at all, Aart. Just to let you know there is a new version. BTW, I am about to release a another version with some bugfixes.

Now that I think about it, I think Komodo 3 was only a relatively small advance from Komodo 2, it was the jump from 1.3 to komodo 2 that was huge.
The results were already posted in this thread, albeit perhaps a bit lost between all other results. I repeat the outcome of the pre-qualification between Komodo versions below (each version played each other version from both sides of the Nunn opening suite under fast time controls). If you want, I can make all games available to you. There is still some time before group A starts.....

Code: Select all

1 Komodo32 2AB 60.0/100
2 Komodo32 2.03 AB 59.0/100
3 Komodo32 2.01 AB 58.5/100
4 Komodo32 2.03 JA 58.0/100
5 Komodo32 3 AB 34.5/100
6 Komodo32 1.3 JA 30.0/100

It's not necessary. Just use 2.03.

I suspect that version 3 is the best version as the error margins with 100 games is ridiculously high, on the other hand it is possible that on the ARM platform Komodo 2.03 is stronger. It's not likely there is much difference however so whatever the difference is would require hundreds of games to resolve.

So just go with 2.03.

Group B completed: congrats IvanHoe!

Post by abik »

Group B has finished a complete thirty seconds-per-move tournament in Chess for Android, played from both sides of all positions in the Nunn opening suite under the conditions described earlier. [Regrettably I found out that Crafty was put at a disadvantage due to a misinterpretation of XBoard's resign plus move command, causing a resign by illegal move in the next game, something that should be fixed soon.]

Congratulations to IvanHoe for its promotion to Group A.

All games can be downloaded from the tournament page.

The games of the final group A have started!

Code: Select all

                         1 2 3 4 5

2 scorpio 5.0-15.0 * 7.5-12.5 17.5-2.5 14.5-5.5 44.5/80
3 Toga II 1.4.1SE 3.0-17.0 12.5-7.5 * 12.0-8.0 13.0-7.0 40.5/80
4 crafty 1.0-19.0 2.5-17.5 8.0-12.0 * 12.0-8.0 23.5/80
5 GarboChess3 1.0-19.0 5.5-14.5 7.0-13.0 8.0-12.0 * 21.5/80

No sorry, I have not :-)

In this tournament, I have played the role of tournament manager, GUI author, engine author (for two), engine compiler (for quite a few), and, given the amount of response, probably even the role of audience. I am not sure I want to add the role of version manager.

Nevertheless, if the authors are interested and give permission, I don't mind trying to compile the latest version of Toga into an ARM-based Android binary.

I'm in the audience. You probably can't see me though, I'm right at the back, but I'm grateful for the free entrance. :)

Thanks Jim! I appreciate the note (and your many JA engine contributions to this tournament of course)! :-)
