Hello,
I saw a contribution of this engine , but found no informations what kind
of protocol (WinBoard or UCI) Falcon supports.

Unfortunately the link to its author - Omid David Tabibi (~Genesis) is broken.
Any help or suggestion is appreciated!

Hi Norbert !
All chess engines of Maestro Omid David Tabibi are under Winboard protocol.
And.....they are three chess engines:
1.Genesis-free- (a problem here - displays always the mate score for white);
2.Maestro-private;
3.Falcon-private-a very strong and didactical one !
Regards,
SilvianR

Re: Falcon by Omid David Tabibi
Omid David Tabibi is well known. He wrote a few papers about chess programming, namely null move reductions, mentor assisted evaluation tuning and something about pawn fortresses if I remember. I even remember mentioning Falcon in some of the papers. However I think it's probably a private engine. The same author wrote Genesis which should be available (around 2300 elo), so I expect Falcon to be much stronger. Perhaps you could try to contact him via e-mail if you can find it somewhere.Norbert Raimund Leisner wrote:Hello,

Omid already for years no longer responds to his email adresses and i thought i had 'em all.mar wrote:Omid David Tabibi is well known. I had been promised a few versions of Falcon by Omid, but never received any.
Most important contribution of Omid was in forward pruning, where he never published about. Falcon used razoring long before and in the 100% exact same manner how Rybka later on has been using it, which many deep searching engines use now.
Note it never worked for Diep like that - but that's irrelevant here - as it worked for Falcon, if i recall well already start 2001.
Though a technique that has its roots in the 70s, first modern usage where it also worked for, that was by Falcon.

I didn't know about that, that's quite interesting (well at least to me). Too bad he didn't write about that. I forgot to mention his version of verified null move pruning which was discussed here sometime ago if I recall.diep wrote: Omid already for years no longer responds to his email adresses and i thought i had 'em all.

The fact that Omid David doesn't respond to e-mails is bad news for Norbert as it answers his original question.
