It would be interesting to see this rating list.
I have wanted to see a list that has a lot of games vs humans to get a better idea of these programs.

This year,I hope, will start building a decent web site using the help of a professional web designer and will publish my rating list which I have been building for over a decade now....It won't be your average Joe rating list that you see all over the net....All the ratings are calculated manually using a FIDE software....No EloStat or whatever there popular programs for this purpose....

Unfortunately the only human in this list is me.....but hey,I've played over 900 games against all types of chess engines and still going on :D

900 games is a lot of games. It would take years to play that many games. Now that the local chess club in Savannah, GA has closed I have to play more programs.

Last year I played about 15 games against programs but I'm only about a 1500 player, so I don't have an idea what a 3000 player would look like. I was playing close games with the following programs, winning except against Pooky. (POOKY 2.1 - Myrddin 0.080a1 - CM3000 Pawngrabber - Pooky 1.0 - Jester 0.83 dc - SIMON 1.3 ja - Jester 0.82). Years ago I would play tougher programs, but in my younger days. I admire you being able to take on the master programs.

I like using the three dimensional feature of the Fritz 8 program when I play. Years ago I would use an actual board when playing programs so I could see the board good. I generally play game 30 because of my schedule and having to work. Against the masters more time is needed, I assume you play longer time controls.

I really don't know that the top programs are really 3000, or that some of them may have weaknesses that GMs can exploit. But I think that after a while the top GMs could eventually figure how to beat the best programs a few times.

He Vincent,

if I added my older rating list to SWCR games I got the following results:
Games I have = 418.000 ...

1. Virtual Chess II
2.300 - 2.325, 510 games I have here ...

2. Virtual Chess I
2.225 - 2.250, 280 games I have here ...

3. Chess System Tal
2.175 - 2.200, 708 games I have here ...

If Shredder 12 have 2.800 ...
different hardware, different time controls now ...
CCE ratings, ATL ratings ... on AMD K6-2 350Mhz, Dual Pentium III 700 MHz with ponder and Dual Xeon 2.8 with ponder ... from older times :-)

Included are the games from the first rating list ... I played with Djordje, Kai and Christian in times 20 WB engines are available, means all what I played on my systems and this one.

Yes, Virtual Chess was one of the stronger engines at this times. Example: Gandalf 3 = 2.325, or WChess 1.2 = 2.325, or Kallisto 1.87 = 2.325.

Best
Frank

I am playing since 10 years now and if you divide the number of games it will give you an average of around 7 games a month.....

I use a real standard chess board as if I play a human and I swith off the thinking lines of the chess engine....the time control is 20 mintues + 20 seconds increment....

One of the secrets to take over these mosnsters is to master certain opening systems and play them over and over again beside reading chess books when I have the time of course....
