Wow,I've read many statements related to Junior's weak endgame technique but this move is so unexcpected from a top chess engine nowadays

even my stupid program DoubleCheck 2.5.3 settles for b6 after less than 0.01 second...
i don't know if b6 is the best move here, but at least it makes sense intuitively to prevent Kc5 from white, and with correct play this position should be a draw, right?

I have never quite understood Junior's weakness in endgames but have seen it OFTEN!. I am surprised they haven't addressed that.

I never trust Junior for analysis in anything remotely like an ending. Before that part of a game I love to check Junior's analysis!

Incredible, very bad instruction to the engine. It would be very interesting to hear dj programmers about this. It seems the rule of dj in this position is push the passed pawn quickly (??).

Something is definitely wrong with the passed pawn evaluation of hte position at least during the endgame

Was the engine in some kind of time trouble when it played this move :!: :?:

No, it wasn't, i downloaded the pgn's. DJ had 1°.19' (79') / 27 moves to play, he did this absurd move in 1'.56'' scoring -8.90 (!!); DJ is sure to going to win!! and thinking as alternative just ...b6 but after the white move DJ played and scored 0.00!! when it is totally lost!

Junior played 54. -b5?? Thanks for Kurt Utzinger to PGN.

Jouni
Wow,I've read many statements related to Junior's weak endgame technique but this move is so unexcpected from a top chess engine nowadays
Incredible, very bad instruction to the engine. It would be very interesting to hear dj programmers about this. It seems the rule of dj in this position is push the passed pawn quickly (??).

Regards
Something is definitely wrong with the passed pawn evaluation of hte position at least during the endgame

Was the engine in some kind of time trouble when it played this move :!: :?:
Dr.D
No, it wasn't, i downloaded the pgn's. DJ had 1°.19' (79') / 27 moves to play, he did this absurd move in 1'.56'' scoring -8.90 (!!); DJ is sure to going to win!! and thinking as alternative just ...b6 but after the white move DJ played and scored 0.00!! when it is totally lost!

P.S. I see almost all the evaluations of DJ in this endgame are unsound

Thanks for the clarification....

Unsound evaluations barely scraches the surface in terms of describing DJ moves above....Horrible will be much correct
Dr.D
Yes, sad but true :(
