I didn't expect that gap between the 2 engines !ATOMICC wrote:http://atomicc-testing.blogspot.com/201 ... m-x64.html

Well 80 Elo is not that bad versus an Houdini's clone.ATOMICC wrote:So far, about 80 Elo apart.gleperlier wrote:I didn't expect that gap between the 2 engines !ATOMICC wrote:http://atomicc-testing.blogspot.com/201 ... m-x64.html

Nothing unusual here Gab. Strelka is extremely strong. 80 elo? I don't know. But you have to think of it like this: I ran a 32bit 200 game match between Strelka 5.1 and Critter 1.4. It consisted of 4- 50 game matches with one run each day. The final result, draws included, was 103-97 in favor of Critter. But that is not the point I am making. In the 1st 50 game set, Critter won 29-21 for a +56 score. And Critter won the middle 2 sets by a combined 4 games. In the 4th and final set, Strelka won 28-22 for a +42 score. Now if that 4th and last set had been all you ran- look at the impression you would have been left with. Strelka is stronger than Vitruvius. It is FIRMLY entrenched in the Top 3, flip-flopping back and forth with Critter. I would be more concerned about Vitruvius results against Stockfish and Komodo. Vitruvius had his way with those 2 in 32bit. I haven't seen 64bit results.

All 50 game matches are not telling and some are. I ran these 64bit:
Houdini beat Critter by 3 games for +21
Critter beat Strelka by 3 games for +21
Strelka beat Stockfish by 9 games for +63
Strelka beat Komodo by 11 games for +78
You see much of anything that surprises you?
There is no way to overstate the difference in an engine in a tournament facing another engine every 5th or 6th game as opposed to having to face that same engine game after game, game after game, game after game.......................
