One test that should be done before any of this is to confirm the identity of all entering the tournament. If this had been done previously the Scaramanga situation of a couple of years ago in Leiden could have been avoided.
1st check has to be address, phone number and photo id of programmer should be submitted and checked.
When will we see HOUDINI in official tournaments?

They should also get fingerprints and DNA samples and run a background check. I'll bet they could catch a few people wanted for fraud.Harvey Williamson wrote:One test that should be done before any of this is to confirm the identity of all entering the tournament. Capital punishment would be more effective as a preventive measure if it were administered prior to the crime.

It is very easy to use the phone number of an unknown programmer to confirm they actually exist.Don wrote:They should also get fingerprints and DNA samples and run a background check. Why do you have a problem with that? It would have stopped Scaramanga in 5 minutes however the CSVN let it enter 2x with a renamed Mark lefler engine. One of their board members even operated it and threatened to sue me when I told him it was Now by Mark L.

Harvey, you misinterpreted my statement, I was NOT making fun or being critical of the concept. I fully agree there should be thorough checks including a photo ID. If you get a job they will (or should) do a thorough background check and this is no different. And even though my statement was somewhat tongue in cheek I'm sure fingerprints and DNA would catch fraudsters, or at least it would cause them to decline to play.Harvey Williamson wrote:It is very easy to use the phone number of an unknown programmer to confirm they actually exist.Don wrote:They should also get fingerprints and DNA samples and run a background check. I worked at a company once that was suffering huge losses due to employee theft. Their choice was to go out of business (whee everyone loses their job) or do something drastic. They brought in the polygraph and over half the employees quit on the spot refusing to take the test. They made a big stink about "not being trusted" and "feeling violated" and left in a big huff or righteous indignation, but you can be sure they had something to hide.
The photo ID check is important because address and phone numbers can be transitory so you hopefully get a real name. The fingerprint and DNA check of course is over the top - although I would submit to such a thing I believe even a few honest people would not because of the stigma attached to getting fingerprinted.

i think the tournament organizer should go with the programmer or operator to the toilette and take a few samples so it can be analysed for doping...Don wrote:They should also get fingerprints and DNA samples and run a background check. In human tournaments however they probably need to check for implants and listening devices and such - I think it's too tempting to not cheat with computers which are now so much stronger.

LOL, there is also mean that between Robbolito and Houdini move selections is about 61.43 %
Robbolito 0.09 Houdini 1.5 61.43
Robbolito 0.09 Houdini 1.5 61.43
