Now I realize why I slowed down on my corr chess games. My conditionals would give me an illegal position. I meant to play d6 first in my head and showed a5 on the board instead. Luckly it does seem playing a5 first isn't a mistake and it should transpose back into what I hand in mind if you play a4.

For this I guess you are granted additional insult on top of 1 per 3 moves, due to my mistake.

I would love to, but I have problems of my own here.

Someone sprayed insecticide on poor little fruitfly and it doesn't want to do 3 hours of analysis anymore. :(

What I have got out of it suggests that FruitFly prefers e4! which cannot be taken.

So, your pondering seems to have been useless.

You would be correct that e4 can't be taken. Even with just my human opinion I'm not sure e4 is the best move. c5 maybe a decent move, I think that would make my last move look a little worse. I can say I should have played d6 first than a5, but I won't complain about my position.

I gave up and switched to Stockfish.

You ruin my pawn structure - I'll ruin yours. If you play d6 now you get a backwards pawn on d6.

Matt & Jimmy,

I don't want to sound anticlimactic, but this sub forum is reserved to "Discussion of computer chess matches and engine tournaments."

We would gladly tolerate such human matches as yours, as they are quite entertaining, but we receive some complaints from people using the thread view.

We don't ask you guys to interrupt your match (although CTF might be a better place than this sub forum for it), but could you please reduce the amount of posts it generates? For instance what you could do is to play ten plies through PMs and update this thread every ten plies. :)

That's what we suggested Loonie & McMad to do, and they gladly complied.

Thanks for your understanding.

/Julien, relying some grumpy users concerns, despite not being grumpy himself ;)

I would contend that these are computer chess matches. A topic I find very interesting are engine-human teams. There are players who can team with an engine to form an entity that is stronger than either the engine or the player alone. Robin Smith was an example. The end product is chess at it's best. Since the computer is an integral part of the team CCC (rather than CTF) should be the place for such contests.

Yes, by that reasoning, then Deep Blue versus Kasparov was a human-human match...

*face in palm*

Oh well, I have sent a PM to Jimmy.
