I've started a new series of testing quite similar to my former "Clash of the Titans" match at longer TCs:

Komodo vs.
- Houdini: http://www.team-oh.de/livegames2/
- Stockfish: http://www.team-oh.de/livegames3/
- Critter: http://www.team-oh.de/livegames4/
- Rybka: http://www.team-oh.de/livegames5/

All engines use 1 core (AMD Phenom II @ 3GHz), 512MB Hash, 120m+3s, Ponder=On, 30 Openings (Noomen Test Suite 2012) have to be played with both colors.

Let's see how the new Komodo 5 fights the others compared to my first test: http://www.team-oh.de/Computerschach/Clash.htm

Best regards
Timo

P.S.: I know that the test sample is of no statistical relevance (only 4 x 60 games), but it should give us a first glance of how Komodo 5 behaves at longer TCs against top opponents.
Very nice time control :!:

Looking forward the results !

Komodo 5 is available at this page:
http://komodochess.com/komodo5-30a

The page now mentions that 32-bit will be available in the next week or so.

Don, )just get a machine up and haven't read my email for days...) forward me a customer email which includes headers, if possible. Otherwise, forward me just a customer email which includes the automatic email you're sending out. I'd like to take a look and see if I see any obvious reason it's getting flagged as spam.

Hi Michael,

By inclusion of the smiley I assume he was kidding. Nobody could be that idiotic.

I should also mention that although we have added automatic SSE4 detection, it appears to make an even larger difference with K5 than with K4; we really benefit from the newer processors.
The problem in the non blitz lists is houdini1.5a

From the CCRL 40/40 rating list:

Houdini 1.5a 64-bit 3156 +17 −17 64.1% −93.3 42.4%
Houdini 2.0c 64-bit 3144 +16 −16 67.3% −121.8 36.2%
Komodo 4 64-bit 3118 +12 −11 57.9% −53.5 47.9%

30 elo at long time control may be enough to be above Houdini2c but not above Houdini1.5a

That's right, our observation is the same as yours, that Houdini 1.5 is a tougher opponent at long time controls.

MM wrote:Testing Komodo at 1'+0'' against Houdini i keep on experiencing a lot of time losses. I thought it was only a problem in 10 seconds per game but it isn't.

I know that generally sudden death games are not considered too much when the time control is relatively short but i wonder if would't it good a fix about that.

Thank you

Best Regards
Try increasing the move overhead milliseconds. The proper setting for this depends on the interface you use. If you find a setting that avoids time forfeits at 1', let us know the setting and the interface used. We did not notice any time forfeits at game/3', but 1' is different.
