The last version of Fabien Letouzey is Fruit 05/11/03 (and is probably almost as strong as Fruit 2.3.3). After that version, I think it's mostly Ryan Benitez, although it's possible that Fabien worked with Ryan on it too (i don't know, only they could answer).
Hello again,
There are even more examples of engines which are not strictly belonging to one country: e.g. Glass (Austria and Poalnd I think); and Stockfish (I don't believe that the current Stockfish team is completely Norwegian

). I also make use of Jim Ablett's compiles, but would it mean that they are all American engines?
Don't get me wrong; your remark is absolutely justified. Maybe I should consider to replace Fruit 2.33f by version 05-11-03, if I can get it somewhere. But to be honest, I am still hoping for a multicore version of Fruit

.
Fruit 05/11/03 is available here, in binary form for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X

As for a multi core version of Fruit, I doubt that will ever happen. The problem is that:
- Fruit 2.1 is the last GPL open source version. There are severql forks of thqt projectm the most famous being Toga II (also GPL) which is multicore.
- Fruit 05/11/03 is a lot stronger than Fruit 2.1 already, and source code was given to Ryan Benitez only, so all of it was basically lost to the community. Only if Ryan improves it will we get a closed source impriovement...
What would really make the Fruit project come back to life is if Fabien could release the source code of Fruit 05/11/03 licensed under the GPL to avoid the possibility that anyone could close the source code and kill the project's evolution in this way. But from what I understand Fabien has retired from chess programming long ago, and is probably not going to ever read this
If you can read this Fabien: we miss you !!!
Theory and practice sometimes clash. And when that happens, theory loses. Every single time.
