But it works like placebo
It would be fun NOT to tell anyone that changing the hex string does nothing.
And then watching reports about successful "settings" with ridiculous elo gains all over the fora...
guess you need to talk with Sedat (and many others w/ 1000s of games at Immortal), to inform them exactly where they're going wrong with their testing...
there seems a credible ELO increase...this solely due to the enormous (public) HoudiniConfig testing that has been done with Matthias' G.'s excellent tool..
it's ridiculous? (the tool and the results?)
(doesn't say much about your opinion of such users)
anyway, why is it that only you and Houdart are so busy nullifying the effort and results...?
and all without any games/proof?

Can you give us one good reason why HoudiniConfig isn't supported any more? Can it be that most of this +50 ELO in H3 just comes from some published H2-setting (or at least inspirations out of them)?
Most probably the case....
He's a talented programmer,no doubt about that,but.................
He's that kind of person that like to twist the reality mainframe to benefit from the current situation as much as he can.......
Do you even believe that he didn't know about the bug related to the x32 & x64 before the sales of Houdini 3 kicked off

exactly right...
only Houdart is capable of providing such a tool to make it stronger!
he is supreme master (manipulator) of his domain...

It is clear that you hate him and I believe that most of the houdini improvement (that seems to be more than 50 elo based on most lists) is not based on changing houdini personality
The SCCT list gives 27.3 elo advantage for Houdini 2.0Kayra2 relative to houdini 2c but considering the number of houdini personalities that they test I believe that the real difference is smaller and with small differences the best personality is the best also because of some luck. http://www.sedatcanbaz.com/chess/?page_id=127
They have poor results for the weak programs relative to other lists
so I think that their 27.3 elo is worth less than 25 elo in other lists even if I ignore the fact that you can expect the best houdini personality to be lucky.
It's not that I hate him personally,I hate some of his actions in our chess community..........
Foe example, the calling home option when you install Houdini 2 with God knows what spy software connected to this shameless action....
Again I believe that he has done more than just tunning a personality to gain the Elo leap in Houdini 3.....
But to be at the top of the rating lists nowadays doesn't mean that I have to worship him or something....after all,it's only a piece of chess software we're talking about here people.......

_No one can hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward….

You didn't get the point. I was not criticizing Sedat's testing of Houdini 2.0 modifications.
I was talking about Houdini3 for which the hex string modifications don't work. Despite that, "successful" tuning results for Houdini3 already appeared on Immortal forum.
