Re: DiscoCheck 4.0.0 (release candidate)
Sorry can you hold off using these. I think I compiled 'DEBUG' versions by mistake and the speed is crippled.Werner wrote:Many thanks Jim,

Will update and announce soon.

Re: DiscoCheck 4.0.0 (release candidate)
These are the dll files needed to run Lucas's compile.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5047625/libstdc%2B%2B-6.dll
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5047625/libgcc_s_sjlj-1.dll
I recompiled my binaries again for v 4.0.1. I still wasn't happy with the speed.
These are much faster

Thanks Jim. So this is the bugfixed 4.0.1 release that Lucas was talking about?Jim Ablett wrote:I recompiled my binaries again for v 4.0.1. I still wasn't happy with the speed.

These were compiled from the latest src code just pulled from the repo.Graham Banks wrote:Thanks Jim. So this is the bugfixed 4.0.1 release that Lucas was talking about?Jim Ablett wrote:I recompiled my binaries again for v 4.0.1. I still wasn't happy with the speed.

What was the bug ?Revision: 272
Author: lucas.braesch

Message:
new windows compile
redid both linux and windows compile, also accounting for the last functional patch, so increment to 4.0.1
No functional change

Jim.
This is a release candidate, so I'd like to know about bugs primarly, so I can fix them and make a 4.0.1 release with less bugs and so on.

Re: DiscoCheck 4.0.0 (release candidate)
Just like to say this is more a discussion to establish and fix bugs, especially related to portability. So testers, please don't spend your CPU time on DiscoCheck yet

Jim's compile is functionally correct: it has the right node count. But I find it a bit slow (although I don't know what computer he's using). He gave me some detailled advice in the programming forum, and I'll try to do some cross compiling, and see if I can get fast executables for Windows.

Theory and practice sometimes clash. And when that happens, theory loses. Every single time.

Please let us know when we can start testing the new version with confidence.
