Sorry, but the offer is designed to allow authors to test and run their engines.kinderchocolate wrote:Albert, I won't have an engine to test on Playchess, I am more interested in playing chess myself. Am I eligible?

Is it possible to make the setup, so your engine only meets human opponents?
That's what I want - for a start, at least.

No, as of now, the accounts created can load the engine in Engine Room exclusively, as any other account on Playchess. Playing against humans is almost out of the question there, a lot of automated Houdinis on 6 core machines is the reality there.JBNielsen wrote:Is it possible to make the setup, so your engine only meets human opponents?
I hope more authors take up on this offer and breathe new life on playchess engine room.
Looking forward to seeing more of u there!

human players do enter the engine room (as centaur) to challenge a computer player...JBNielsen wrote:Is it possible to make the setup, so your engine only meets human opponents?

i believe this will work for you:
edit your formula and choose 'no computers',
make sure 'no centaurs' is 'off'
PS - centaurs usually play with computer assistance,
but must make the move decision and enter it manually

I do engine vs engine on my own computer.

Indeed Norman is right, the Playchess.com software allows you to set your formula for no computers and no centaurs, so formula wise you are ok.
In terms of getting games against a human, it really is far fetched attempt, on a lucky day you might get a couple of games against a human.
Anyway, its at least worth a try

perhaps more 'humans' would play in the room if weaker engines and systems were available...Raptor wrote: In terms of getting games against a human, it really is far fetched attempt, on a lucky day you might get a couple of games against a human.

right now most 'humans' have little chance
"Father" has posted numerous games here in the past in which he demonstrates how to win...

Re: Free Playchess accounts for original engine authors
I tried Playchess again, but still in vain...
I am in the engine room, but I cannot find the stuff about playing mode, where I can tell where my 'engine dabbaba' is placed on my PC etc...
The nearest I come is Edit user data, where I can give my first and last name, email, gender (comp.), picture etc.
I have found the formula for playing, though.
