Oh, only that. How hypocritical.
That is factual and legal, I don't care what his intent was. Good luck with proving your intent theory.
I don't want to prove any theory. It is a fact that he did something which was legal but he could have chosen to act (or not act) otherwise.
Judas also could have chosen otherwise.
So what, you don't like what he did. I really don't care, that is your opinion after all. No one said we have to agree.

I still think the warning given to So is not valid ... ok we might be splitting hairs but the warning was clearly regarding notes on the score sheet which makes a lot of sense since it could corrupt data on the score sheet or maybe distract the other player as he might want to know the contents of the additional information jotted on the official document. He did not write anything on the score sheet but wrote notes on another piece of paper. Maybe if the arbiter had made it clear that he couldn't write anything anywhere things would have been more clear. I really think that the rules regarding notes were to prevent someone bringing notes as a "cheat sheet". I think there are hundreds of GM's now that are looking at this episode and thinking how many times they had broken the rule and gotten away with it. Will be interesting to see how this pans out in the future and if one good thing came out of this episode is that nobody can claim ignorance of the note taking rule anymore. But ... what if someone folds an edge of the paper in 3 locations and uses this as a note to "check each variation 3 times" ??

On one hand,
1) chess player A summons the arbiter to complain about a rule chess player B is certainly breaking (some argue is a reasonable rule, some other argue is not).
2) On the other hand, chess player B ask the organization to ban his own mother from the site.

For some reason, #1 is causing more shock than #2.

I do not know of course the details of his life, but may be... just may be So should focus more on #2 than #1. Losing a stupid game happens all the time. Losing connection with your mother is a different story, no matter her personality. So, So (I just wanted to put both words together :-)) has the balls to call the authority to ban his own mother because he could be "bothered", but then he does not consider the possibility of annoying his opponents with his weird behavior.

I cannot judge things because I lack information, but sounds we may be stressing things that should have a different priority.

So seems to be at a point in his life when he is trying to make a break with his Mother. Maybe he needs a break and take a vacation to find himself.

Then why do we hear so very little from the professional chess world about the illegality of So's forfeiture? All I hear are complaints from isolated individuals. Are those the only ones that see through this conspiracy?

Well, those isolated individuals do post on the Internet, so I guess it must be true.
