There's a typo. 3289 should be 3189.

Code: Select all

vs Hiarcs 14 [2839] 48.5- 1.5 perf=3443 [W.S.]
Wow, what a thrashing!?2839
How can the "world champion" be spanked like that?
World champion?
To be accurate, both Hiarcs and Junior hold official World Championship titles now. Against Junior, Komodo "only" won by 48 to 2.

A new update to the 40/4 list will be coming Monday May 25. I had car issues the past two weeks but I was able to get some matches done for the 12CPU and the 8CPU versions of Komodo 9 while I looked for a new car.

For the 8CPU version of Komodo 9 I have about 1400 games at the moment and the results between my Intel and AMD computers were practically identical.

Since you have both Intel and AMD computers, perhaps you could just run a quick test on both Komodo 9.01 and SF6 in single core mode. Just run them from a command prompt and type "go depth 20" and record the NPS figures. The idea is to see whether the NPS ratio (SF/Komodo) is about the same on both. I don't have any reason to expect much difference, but it was a big issue with Houdini so it would be nice to know if it makes any difference in comparing SF and Komodo.

Probably depends exactly which AMD and Intel that you have. Anyway, here I get SF 6 /Komodo 9 nps ratios of:

Intel 1.17 (Sandybridge laptop)
AMD 1.21 (Phenom II X6)

So Stockfish has a very slight advantage on AMD, but nothing to get excited about. When my FX8350 has finished its current match, I'll run it on that also.

Ok, thanks to you and Ray. Based on these responses it seems fair to say that any systematic difference between Intel and AMD on the relative performance of Komodo and Stockfish appears to be minimal.
