another Crafty flashback from 20 years ago...

Post by MikeB »

Recompiled for today's 64 bit iMac MAC And it works on xboard! Found this classic crafty on Jim Ablett's site - burned in his "ancient crafty" source folder - this was pre-Jakarta so we're talking about 1995.

If anyone PM's me , I will put the exe out on DropBox.

Surprise Surprise - We do have some Mac users in this mostly Windows or Linux crowd.

DropBox Link to The Crafty v11.23 exe for the Mac with source:

Using the "xboard" command in the ".craftyrc" is imperative. I have use the tournament function in xboard v4.8.0d and it worked fine. Some of the other features in xboard may not work. Playing games and machine to macthine seem to work - but only if use the epd files for startup and not the pgn files. You will need to create a new book for an opening book file. Type "help book" at the command line.

For what it's worth - this version may be rated around 2500 on the CCLR list - perhaps a little more or a little less. Which is actually not bad for 1995 software.
