I am not disappointed with Rodent II at all! This version got the best feedback since the beginning of the project: I got a series of hints to maintain Linux compatibility, a rewiew, a couple of new personalities, a few suggestions about new parameters (already implemented in developement version)... Some more Elo would be nice for sure, but regaining it should be relatively easy (compared with the almost complete rewrite I had to undertake because of some fatal and untraceable bug).
Frankly speaking (pun intended!) I am waiting for Frank's statistics to see what needs to be done. Probably there's much work to be done on the endgame. I saw a couple of strange evaluations in the CCRL games already, and traced them down to wrong scaling of KR vs King+minor or KR+minor vs KR. Also, the version that plays in all the tournaments, sacrifices the exchange a bit too often (fixing it takes one constant... and a few days of tuning, while computing power I can harness is rather scarce).
Very nice game ... Rodent - Gaviota, 1:0

Re: An offer for yourself and others ...
Sorry, your information is only partially correct. I worked once on a book for Shredder 9, because at that time the program came w/o book for other GUIs.Frank Quisinsky wrote:Hi Günther,
after my information you are working on an opening book for Shredder Classic GUI too. Do you have this opening line in your book?
I think ... if you like ... we should switch information about our opening books.
I wish me a person you are as partner for my work. Maybe you have interest and we can work together. Maybe you have interest on my rating list and we can build a team. I am very open for new ideas. I search strong partners for my work around start of Mai 2016. I am sure we found a way ...
I can send my passwords from my provider. Means if people have interest to support me in testing engine, each of such persons can added one information on my webpage. To work alone here is very boring for myself. I have to changed that or I losed my interest ... I need here more chess friends which have interest to support my work.
I have interest to build a "new" test group, like CEGT or CCRL ...
End of April 2016 I have with my FCP database a basic database for it. If people have interest to support my work we can build a new test-group. Please contact me with my contact form.
I wish me people with a lot of knowledge about engines you have (for an example).
Best
Frank
PS: I think my ideas are perhaps boring for the others. I am sure that I have a great start Point I am working now around 2 1/2 years. Around 200.000 games I have with the same conditions. Furthermore, I think this would be great for the group of programmers too.
Again, I am very often, also in switching in parts my conditions! Of course, not all of my conditions or my work goes in the trash can.
At that time (long ago) it was first a Thinkerbook and a bit later I changed to Polyglot format.
The work for this book was then used for a Rybka book and at last for an Alaric book. According to my files the last work done was at the end of 2009!
About some work together in a tester group I have to disappoint you, because I have no plans to spend much time in doing that again.
Except for some rare and private tests with various different goals, or just out of curiosity, I practically left the 'active side' of computerchess in 2010/11.

Re: An offer for yourself and others ...
Hi Pawel,
style in the beginning of the game should be clear.
Very active and your engine lost not many games very fast, won more games very fast. Vs. clearly stronger engine ... that is interesting but typical for such a style ... often an advantage in the earlier middlegame ... later in endgame your engine lost the advantage, rarely the games ended with draw, often with lost (again vs. clearly stronger engines). With such a style a program have a great potential because stronger in endgames and your engine will make clearly more points. I think one of the secrets here is to hold the active style in the beginning if a programmer is working for a better endgame.
All in one I am very happy with the playing style and of course, your engine is great for opening book analyzes. Too many nice attacking ideas, others don't have.
The new statistics will be available end of April if the database each against. each others is ready for take off.
The final result for Rodent II 0.8.7 x64 should be around -15 Elo. Again, not very important!

Hi Günther,
thanks for your replay.
I wish me strong partners in testing engines. I like your comments about computer chess all the time, so I asked you here ... maybe to aggressive.
Sorry for that!
Have fun!
