Engine a bit buggy...tends to hang and not close after games ended..(use task mgr to close) works using only wb2uci adapter in Fritz and Lokasoft...(xboard and winboard gives no moves in lokasoft)...not quite a random mover..shows some ability (tactics) reasonable strength for a new engine..(needs some work)....rating based on some swiss games

That for the moment just works fine in Arena (even in Arena crash if lost by time but in 5/0 or 40/4 do not happens)

Have no tactic at all, just queen 900 points; rook 500; bishop and knigh 300 and pawn 100.
It played several games 40/4 with around 800/900 ELO points engines in CCRL and lost near all games. Use to win over 500/600.

What is 300+5 and 600/300+5:30/60+5:60+5?

EDIT: its not lost by time in 5/0 or 40/4 in a Phenom 955 3200MHz. It not has time control at all, just search depth fixed in 5.

Now Soberango takes care of the 3rd repetition rule.

Fixed a bug of 0.02.1 that makes Soberango crash if the opponent start the very 1st game of a tournament in Arena with a pawn moving 2 squares.

There is no such thing as "insufficient material" in the official FIDE laws of chess. There is a concept called "dead position" though. From paragraph 5.2b:

The game is drawn when a position has arisen in which neither player can checkmate the opponent's king with any series of legal moves. The game is said to end in a 'dead position'. This immediately ends the game, provided that the move producing the position was in accordance with Article 3 and Articles 4.2 - 4.7.

It can be proven that for certain material configurations all legal positions are dead positions. Such material configurations are sometimes informally classified as "insufficient material".

It is not trivial to determine if a position is a dead position. For example, the following position is a dead position.

I did not thougth in that kind of positions.
At my, low, amateur level, at this kind of positions we always just agree ties never thinking is must be tie. I mean, that could not be won by time neither, I´m right?

Could the best engines, having whites, avoid positions like those you showed?

EDIT: Arena do not declares tie the first position!

The official rules say something like that except that "insufficient material" is not defined by the rules. From paragraph 6.9:

... if a player does not complete the prescribed number of moves in the allotted time, the game is lost by that player. However, the game is drawn if the position is such that the opponent cannot checkmate the player's king by any possible series of legal moves.
