Silly question: When did computers got to 1980 USCF or ELO?

This is not that important.
In the 1980's computer exceeded the year with a 1980 USCF or ELO.
In a graph, the time variable is the year and the other variable is the rating.
When did the cross each other?
I am talking about the Christian calendar of course.

By using Wikipedia, I found out that a supercomputer Belle had a master rating in 1983.

Thus, the answer is between 1978 and 1983.

1984
Four numbers is released. The members is over 100. The first ads show up. The firs ratinglist make its entrance in PLY. Counted by Göran Grottling is Prestige on top with 1822. In nr.4 have Super Constellation taken over the lead with 1916. World Microcomputer Chess Championship was held in Glasgow with four programs on the same score. Princhess X, Elite X, Psion and Mephisto A. In august was SSDF founded, with the purpose to coordinate the interest for computerchess and chesscomputers in Sweden, and to release PLY. Thoralf Karlsson becomes the chairman.

So it looks like about 1984 that we went from 1822 to 1916 so pretty close to 1984
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

The answer between year and rating is right here!!!!

For supercomputers the answer is 1978 (technically 1977 is close)

For regular affordable computer the answer (thanks Dann) is 1985.

In 1981 Cray Blitz had an official USCF rating of 2254 (it was on record as the first program to beat a chess master in anything but blitz games). You can find a write-up in chess life either late 1981 or early 1982, I will have to dig that up. Belle had a USCF rating of 2208 or something close. I think Belle got to 2200 somewhat earlier than Cray Blitz, however. Maybe the same year. In 1977 Chess 4.x had a rating of about 1900 doing quite well at the Paul Masson tournament that year.
