I always use flat view, since it started to exist and just made it default, thus
there is zero problem with such a big thread.
Actually I still don't understand the need for the ancient thread style, it is just
an obstacle for updates, which probably also results in safety issues, because
of non covered security leaks.
I guess in a poll >80% would vote for removing the ancient style for having
much more sensible options in an updated board!
What percentage would be needed to acchieve this change?
Edit:
The only real reason for me to use the ancient style is the ability to get the direct link to the full profile of a poster.
I don't understand why the link is not there in the author column in the flat view?
I consider this a bug thinking about it again.

In thread view, you have an immediate overview of all the posts in a specific thread.
Some people are able to read all posts simultaneously before deciding where and if to post.
Flat view means you need an additional click to access info, and additional clicks are sometimes expensive.

nonsense you only see the headers no content, thus the 'overview' helps nothing.Lyudmil Tsvetkov wrote:-5 :)Thomas Lagershausen wrote:+1Guenther wrote:I always use flat view, since it started to exist and just made it default, thus

Re: Very long threads (such as phone benchmarks)
Whether to protect threaded view or upgrade the board is a discussion that transcends moderation. Unfortunately it has been conducted many times before, and never led to anything productive. So perhaps we should not conduct it here, and limit ourselves to what could be done through moderation and forum etiquette to optimize the functioning of the forum. (Otherwise this issue might be swamped.)

Tbh, it's the best thread to me. Every time I visit here I see if a new benchmark is posted. I'm always doing analysis on my phone. I need the best for chess. I ALWAYS use flat view.
Never gave me a problem.

Nonsense. It helps of course to see if someone answered your posting or in a sub discussion.Guenther wrote:nonsense you only see the headers no content, thus the 'overview' helps nothing.Lyudmil Tsvetkov wrote:-5Thomas Lagershausen wrote:+1Guenther wrote:I always use flat view, since it started to exist and just made it default, thus

Is it so difficult to understand? Overview helps nothing to read all posts simultaneously in thread view.Alexander Schmidt wrote:I answered to your "overview helps nothing" and your cheeky "nonsense".Guenther wrote:So you are also able to do the miracle andAlexander Schmidt wrote:Nonsense. Actually it is impossible in thread view, unlike the OP said. Thus I said it is nonsense...
