An excellent point !!! Thanksmclane wrote:The benchmark mobile phone gives not only the benchmark. The latest mobile phones get tested and we talk about the usefulness of these phones for computerchess. Information that is nowhere in the usual computer blogs or computer websites. Because these websites benchmark antutu, ... and all other kinds of stuff that have NO relevance to computerchess.
If you want to buy a mobile phone that is GOODBYE for chess, you cannot trust antutu or whatever benchmark because they do measure graphical stuff (unimportant for chess).
So in the mobile benchmark thread we talk about this. I see this discussions and benchmark values as a service to the computerchess community.

Re: Very long threads (such as phone benchmarks)
I never suggested using phone benchmarking sites. I suggested some chess motivated person create a chess speed benchmark site and have the data maintained and posted there.
Then you guys can feel free to talk about the site and its information on this forum all you want. However, the benchmarks from new phones would be sent to the site maintainer directly, not here.
If I had any interest in maintaining such a site, I could create it and provide an email everyone could send new phone tests to in 20 minutes. This would provide the information, and solve the giant thread which maintains every new phone post going back to before the dinosaurs. One page with all the phones tested is more than enough.
Considering how many responses here include a "if you were as technically savvy as me" component, I'd "assume" there is someone here other than me that can accomplish the near herculean task of creating a massively complex one page website.
Am I wrong?

This is a computerchess forum. And benchmarking mobile phones with a chess program is on topic here. You don't have to read the postings. Why should we talk about it somewhere else ?
What seems like a fairy tale today may be reality tomorrow.
Here we have a fairy tale of the day after tomorrow....

Perhaps English is not your primary language, but I think you need to reread what I posted. I never said any such thing. Discussing it here, I specifically said was fine. Hosting a rating/speed list in a live forum thread is not a effective use of forum software.
