Dann checked the sources for 6 days. No changes to see, so no reason to test an other version. Latest version I have in my list is the same as the current version. It seems that rx numbers have nothing to do with the version number.

After all I understand!

Hi Frank,

1. There is a huge problem with the svn site of OctoChess. It does not show timestamps, which is quite unsual!

2. I am not sure if you understood my post. I simply have NO working version except R5190, which was from 2013/08.
The last version from octochess is r5506, published 2 years ago. Here is a detailed list of changes. https://svn.filezilla-project.org/filez ... /?view=log

I can try to make a compile if you are still interested in the engine

Edit:

Damned you are right. I checked the log site again and it seems he unfortuately has SVN counting revisons for filezilla and octochess together.
That means all changes above R5560 were for filezilla only.

Thanks again for your hint!
With that link above we finally know when something was done at
the chess part - I need to update my chronology!

Here are my builds:

-gcc-5.4 msse3 Windows build
-gcc-5.4 msse3 + mpopcnt Windows build (equivalent to Stockfish modern)
-clang-3.8 Haswell native + pgo Linux

Unfortunately I was not able to make Windows pgo builds. The Linux build is fastest by quite a margin.

Thanks!

Guenther, if none of this builds works for you, I will try also.

Thanks Hermann! The SS3 named build works for me (modern not).

@Daniel

You can do me another favor instead ;-)

https://github.com/stephenjlovell/gopher_check

You sure remember GopherCheck?
I missed that post when the author announced the release of version 0.10
in June here. (meanwhile it seems he is at 0.11)

Now I realized he released the source only.
I would need a compile for WIN64 nopopcnt again.

Main reason is that I have started to add another column to the chronology (MP) and Gopher is said to be MP,
but in all versions I have so far I cannot see an option to set it?

It does not compile for me:

Code: Select all

F:\p\go>go get -u github.com/stephenjlovell/gopher_check
package github.com/davecheney/profile: no buildable Go source files in f:\p\go\work\src\github.com\davecheney\profile
The problem is I don't have any idea of Go language, and some searches at google didn't find any meaningful solution with my lack of knowledge. I hope someone that knows well the Go language can try to compile it.

Well, I asked because you compiled it already once two years ago :)

I asked Dann from time to time.
Here is the last release by Dann.

Last week he wrote me, no reason to compile a newer version.

Code: Select all

  56 Octochess r7533 DC x64 : 2657.90 3850 30.1 37.0 9.15 2828.84 8.44 77.0
   - Octochess r5190 SSE4 x64 : 2634.59 4950 34.0 38.5 7.87 2771.27 8.95 92.3
3.850 45-minutes games on i7 4Ghz played here vs. 77 opponents with the version from Dann. Elo is clear, improvements clearly to see. 8.800 Octochess games in database here.

Very nice engine and a style I like for self playing.

I am so crazy with my Rating list ... so many games by TOP-50 I have after three years. Often the double games CEGT 40/20 and CCRL 40/40 have with 1 core together.

It's time for the bughouse and believe me I am ready for it with all my PCs.

:-)

Best
Frank
