Yeah, Adam's Post certainly helped with that...now even people who are indifferent to who wins want Houdini to win.....antagonized a lot of people
Same as the First match in the previous Round between Komodo and Houdini which was called off on flimsy grounds while Houdini was leading.
I was there ; most people had just come to see a good Match and didn't really care who won, but when they saw Houdini being tricked out of a win for seemingly plausible reasons, they were furious and Houdini/Houdart won a lot of support that day.

If any engine could replace Komodo , it is Houdini. Obviously Robert has been hard at work and he knows everything that one can know about his opponent since it is open source. With that said , Stockfish is no slouch, so it should be good match. I believe Stockfish will win , but it would not surprise if I'm wrong. I guess for rmost of us - we just want the match to get over and done with so we can get ours on Houdini for ourselves. And if you are listening Robert, please give us a MacOS version - Apple computers now have a 13% market share win the US - almost doubling from the prior year of around 7.4%.

+1....need an alternative to Stockfish in some situations and Komodo just doesn't cut it anymore.

20+ losses is extremely unlikely: I doubt there will be anything close to 20 decisive games in the superfinal (There were just 11 in the superfinal of Season 8.)

For the first time there are two undefeated engines in the superfinal (excluding H4 games, including the 62-round rapid). Normally I'd be slightly excited about it but: 1) that TC (180+15) is a huge drag for actually watching the games, and 2) I suspect we're going to witness the highest draw rate ever seen in computer chess.

I'd say SF is going to win were it not for the rapid tournament, where H's performance is something like 100 Elo above SF, and that's the July build of H. Assuming Houdart enters a new dev, I expect a close match, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if H wins it.

So the "Stockfish is no joke, It is absolutely the worlds strongest" might be equally true about Houdini as well.
Maybe even about Komodo too.
That makes 3 of them.

But we all know this.

Rapid games finished on yesterday! No news about super-final. Based on 992 rapid games' result, Houdini is very likely to be No 1 in rating list about 20 elo above stockfish and Komodo if the latest versions of all big three engines were released as of today. (Stockfish's massive piece trading and drawing tendency against low rated engines will hurt the rating though it wont affect the head to head duel) My bet for superfinal is 50/50.

There is no news about TCEC 9 final. Previous tourney organiser Mr Martin Thoresen said he messaged to the CEO of chessdom Mr Anton Mihailov but no new update. At the same time,I saw in fishcooking googlegroup that Stockfish boss Mr Marco Costabella would like to release stockfish 8 in the midway during TCEC though new stockfish dev version is +60 elo than stockfish 7. Seemed like that No TCEC final, No stockfish 8.

New Stockfish development probably +80 Elo over Stockfish 7.
