Then, what???

Post by fern »

New commercial programs of the utmost strength are in the shells. But what about gui, services, etc? Stefan offer something extra with his Shredder 13, some services that did not exist and that is good, but perhaps not enough. We still need a huge jump on this and still programmers concentrate in the engine. Some even does not deliver a proper gui.
Exception made of GM that needs extra force to analyze his games, what a heck an amateur player is going to do with a 3200 elo program?
We are most than served with a 2300 one.
We need something else. we need learning, training, fun. FUN
Chessbase programs give a lot of that, but even them goes no further than they already were going since 10 years ago.
So...
Then. what?

I do not like those clubs. Too many un polite people, noise, arrogance, bullying, and what is worst, BAD PLAYERS.

Don't need to talk to them. Just play or go home early.

Go incognito to a strange club and choose your friends if there are any.

I am playing even worse. By the way there are players of different strengths. Experts only play external competition.

Well, in the clubs of my country unfortunately the bad tone is the one that dominates the place. Not even if you play under a mask, some idiots will gather around your table to make sardonic comments about your game, offering help to our adversary or in any way bother you all along the game. Even worst, I am a national known personality here and not very loved....

Don't know how that's like. I might say ignore everything and just try to play chess.

Botwinnik trained to get used to cigarette smoke and noise.

It is lot worst. Botvinik would abandon the room here. I have seen bastards even putting a hand in the board to move a piece to prove his point. And them follows a far west saloon kind of fight.
