Total prize of Deep Fritz- Kramnik match was 1 million euro. This money is equal to the total prize of Carlsen-Karjakin match.
I think it's time for a sensational Computer (Komodo/Stockfish/Houdini) -Human (~2800 elo GM) match. Maybe it will be a time odds match

Re: CEGT - rating lists November 13th 2016
For the Computer -Human match the time control for computer will be 10''+0.1' (11 seconds/60 move ) and the time control for GM will be 150' +30'' (10800 seconds/60 move).
1000x thinking time ~ 600 elo
In these conditions we can see a very controversial match.

Re: CEGT - rating lists November 13th 2016
I have written several times about the 2800 elo of Shredder 12.
Most of the testers give 2800 elo to Deep Shredder 12(1 core) engine.
Shredder 12 didn't make any real match versus GM's /IM's.
Shredder 9 was the last Shredder engine to play in the human tournaments.
The performance of Shredder 9 is 2758 elo at 2005 Mercosur Cup (8.5/10, Pentium 4 3.5 Ghz, ~1200 Fritz Benchmark)
The performance of Shredder 9 is 2807 elo at 2005 Vincente Lopez ITT 2005 (9.5/10, Pentium 4 3.5 Ghz, ~1200 Fritz Benchmark)
http://en.chessbase.com/post/shredder-9 ... a-mercosur
The hardware of Shredder 9 was more weaker than today's hardwares and the opening book of Shredder 9 was more weaker than today's opening books.
In real Shredder 9 (1 core) has 2800 human elo.

Re: CEGT - rating lists November 13th 2016
I have to agree that Shredder 12 = 2800 makes no sense and that figure seems [more than 100 Elo points] too low, based on the (human vs computer) historical data we do have. 2800 looks more like an arbitrary round number.mehmet karaman wrote:I have written several times about the 2800 elo of Shredder 12.

At least, CCRL has attempted to give the engines ratings that are more closely lined up to the (approximated) human Elo scale. Shredder 12 on 1 core is rated ~2950 on CCRL 40/40.

Re: CEGT - rating lists November 13th 2016
Do you know Dr. Harun Taner. His only passion was chess.
Harun Taner (October 3, 1966 - May 2015) was a Turkish naval engineer and researcher, writer and publisher of chess [1] and literature periodicals [2], multilingual blogger, chess player, computer chess aficionado and tester. Harun Taner graduated in 1988 from Istanbul Technical University, in the 90s, he was affiliated with the Technical University of Berlin. He survived the 1999 İzmit earthquake, since 2000, his residence was in Antalya. Harun Taner died in May 2015 at age 48 [3].
https://chessprogramming.wikispaces.com/Harun+Taner
The number of his forum posts were over 20.000.
I would have liked to be given a reward in his life. (Best tester or best computer chess author)
Harun Taner lived alone. It was understood a week later by the people he died.
He was buried in the homeless graveyard.

Re: CEGT - rating lists November 13th 2016
Hi Mehmet,
oh yes, Harun a very sympathical computer chess lover ...
We lost so many of important persons in the last years.
Often I am very sadly.
2016 Best Chess Engine : Houdini 5 / Stockfish 8
Yes, Houdini 5 and Stockfish 8 ... Fizbo, Hakkapeliitta and many others too plays great chess. The new Houdini Plays very aggressive and interesting chess with many pieces on board after openings and is very very strong in endgames. I like Wasp and the interesting style of Wasp. Fire is clearly improved ... I like more as 20 engines I believe.
Stockfish Plays in the late middlegame / Transition into endgame in an own league. What the engine here do is fantastic chess very impressive ... means I understand often nothing but it must be good
Komodo is great ... most interesting chess for myself comes from Komodo. More balanced as ultimate analyse engines ... to all playing phases. From the TOP engines Komodo is my personal favorite.
2016 Best Dedicated Chess Computer: Millennium Chess Genius Pro
Most fun I had with Mach III 18Mhz, Super VIP II and Dominator. Today interesting things to that topic are available of still under development and of course in the beginning with my Fidelity Chess Challanger 7 ... and often with programs by Ed. I had a lot of fun with Mephisto B&P with self playing. Today I play most of the time vs. AnMon / SOS / Phalanx / Zarkov / SSEChess.
2016 Most Improved Chess Engine : Deep Shredder 13
Shredder 13 is on position 2 for me ...
Andscacs on position 1 here ...
I made many interviews with Stefan. In the past I orgaince an Event ... Deep Shredder vs. The World for Gambit-Soft and Millennium by Ossi Weiner. Many persons around the World made interesting analyzes. The game ended draw ... after around 4 months. Stefan is a very sympathical guy and many important things Comes from him. UCI for an example. I am very happy with Shredder 13. I like Stefan and his work all the years. Maybe today the most important chess programmer.
In three years Andscacs comes from place 50 and go to place 8. Maybe the current version on place 6 of available engines ... not tested so far here.
2016 Best Chess Program Author: Stefan Meyer-Kahlen
Yes and Fabian, Tord, John Stanback for myself ... Bob Hyatt of course and the programmer of Andscacs & Fire and so many others ... Ferdinand is very talended ... I think we have many many talented programmers. The programmer of Winboard today and Tim in the past. Martin Blume is a great programmer with a lot of knowledge and understanding, good ideas. Again ... so many programmers the list is very Long for me. In Booot and Smarthink are a lot of interesting ideas ... in Junior too ... in Cheng, Texel, Vajolet, Pedone, Gaviota ... and Rodent is Ultra interesting. I like so many chess engines and I am happy to have all.
Norm Pollock, Ferdinand and of Miguel ... Ordo is a great work.
2016 Best Chess Opening Book: Noomen.ctg.
My own to ... but only if I can make it better ... 3-5% bad opening lines is to many ... from day to day lesser and all works fine here but today with the knowledge I have I can improved it clearly. The problem is to do that ...
need a lot of time. So you are right the Noomen book is very good and also the book of Hiarcs. If I am not looking in my own work I am looking in the book of Hiarcs. In that book a lot of work I can see the book author do here. The book of Sedat is good ... small but good. Sedat do also a lot. Very good from the ChessBase books is one of the older Junior books.
2016 Best Computer Chess Author: Kai Laskos
Oh yes!
Very interesting material Kai produced!
Kai is a ... artful dodger (Schlitzohr ... hope this is right in English language).
Kai try to find out a bit ... such things are most interesting in Computer chess. I try it too but my rating list need to many time.
2016 Best Computer Chess Website: Frank's Chess Page
Ups, often very boring and not many time today. In the past I had more time ... Arena or Winboard / Gambit-Soft times. Today only a rating list and I think not very important ... we have much better sites.
But I am happy with your comments.
I invested a lot of time in Computer chess and it's nice to read.
Over all the years in the past ...
Most detail work I think Ed Schröder do here. OK, I do here a lot if I am thinking on all the years computer chess ... but honestly ... different others made more interesting things I do. I am not consistant ... after a time I lost my interest and must do other things. I can't work 10 years on the same Topic ... have anxiety to miss something.
Best computer chess sites today is "Chess Programming Wiki" by Gerd Isenberg, no doubt about it. At second "Computer Chess Wiki".
Again ... we have a lot of persons which can do interesting things. We don't have a good organization and we don't have a good statistic GUI ... OK we have many tools but I wish me since many years a good statistic GUI.
Best
and have fun with our hobby ... for the next 100 years.
PS:
I think I should write a book about computer chess. About all my experience in now 40 years computer chess. Again, many many intersting persons are working for us in the past and today. My list here is very small ... many programmers we had in the past ... Bart Westrate or James Robertson for two examples. Frans Morsch too ... many many people. But most important for myself is Bob Hyatt, John Stanback, Ed Schröder and Fabian ... have a lot of respect here.
