Dear Frank, Thank you very much for your valuable comments.
I don't agree with you only about one point. Your chess web site is nice and interesting.
I hope you write your book about computer chess because I would love to read it.

The first chess engine (1 core) to reach the 2800 Human Elo was not Shredder 9.mehmet karaman wrote:I have written several times about the 2800 elo of Shredder 12.
Most of the testers give 2800 elo to Deep Shredder 12(1 core) engine.
Shredder 12 didn't make any real match versus GM's /IM's.
Shredder 9 was the last Shredder engine to play in the human tournaments.
The performance of Shredder 9 is 2758 elo at 2005 Mercosur Cup (8.5/10, Pentium 4 3.5 Ghz, ~1200 Fritz Benchmark)
The performance of Shredder 9 is 2807 elo at 2005 Vincente Lopez ITT 2005 (9.5/10, Pentium 4 3.5 Ghz, ~1200 Fritz Benchmark)
http://en.chessbase.com/post/shredder-9 ... a-mercosur
The hardware of Shredder 9 was more weaker than today's hardwares and the opening book of Shredder 9 was more weaker than today's opening books.
In real Shredder 9 (1 core) has 2800 Human Elo.

Chess Tiger 14 was the first chess engine reaching 2800 Human Elo.
I don't talk about theoretical elo ratings, piece odds matches etc. I talk about real chess matches, real tournaments.
The elo performance of Chess Tiger 14 was 2788 at Mercosur Cup 2001 (Pentium 3 866 Mhz, ~ 415 Fritz Benchmark)
http://www.chessib.com/arg1crosstabl.html
The elo performance of Chess Tiger 14 was 2805 elo at Najdorf Memorial Open 2001 (Pentium 3 866 Mhz, ~ 415 Fritz Benchmark

(3 x cpu speed) Rybka 3 (1 core) : 2922 (Cegt 40/20) //~ 1200 Fritz Benchmark
(3 x cpu speed) Chess Tiger 15 (1 core): 2453 (Cegt 40/20) //~ 1200 Fritz Benchmark
(1 x cpu speed) Chess Tiger 14 (1 core): 2797 Human Elo // ~ 415 Fritz Benchmark
In SSDF List Chess Tiger 15 is +2 elo over Chess Tiger 14 (Athlon 1200 Mhz)
In SSDF List Chess Tiger 15 is +30 elo over Chess Tiger (128MB K6-2 450 Mhz )

Yes, I remember buying CT14 after those renowned performances. Question is, why is Chess Tiger 14 (and other versions) rated so much lower on the computer rating lists?!mehmet karaman wrote:The first chess engine (1 core) to reach the 2800 Human Elo was not Shredder 9.mehmet karaman wrote:I have written several times about the 2800 elo of Shredder 12.

Komodo Beats Nakamura (2787 elo) with 2.5-1.5 score in 2016 January.
Game 1: Pawn and Move Odds: 1/2-1/2
Game 2: Pawn Odds : 1/2-1/2
Game 3: Exchange Odds (Knight vs Rook) : 1/2-1/2
Game 4: 4 Move Odds : 1-0
In Game 3 Nakamura can't beat Komodo (Rook vs Knight)
https://www.chess.com/news/komodo-beats ... attle-1331
Komodo 10.3 is ~50 elo stronger according to this Komodo version (Cegt 40/20)
If there would be a suitable opening book for a Knight odds match Komodo (with a strong hardware) is able to draw versus a 2500-2600 elo GM with Knight odds.
For piece odds match Komodo hasn't a strong opening book. A strong opening book for piece odds match can make Komodo ~150 elo points stronger.

In Cegt rating lists their average elo rating is ~250 points less than their real elo ratings.
But elo ratings of top engines are very close to the their real elo ratings. In Cegt rating list (40/20) Stockfish 8 (4 cpu) has 3424 elo.
25 years ago the strongest engine was Deep Thought II.
Stockfish 8 is ~900 elo points stronger than Deep Thought II and ~1000 elo points stronger than Cray Blitz and Hitech.
This is is really amazing.
