(Spaces within brackets removed) I faintly recall that Shredder 5.32 was the first SMP capable Shredder engine? And it was not yet priced the Chessbase way, as a "Deep Shredder", where you had to pay a premium for using more than one thread.Dayffd wrote:A nice game by an older engine against another older engine just played (From a 5 minute blitz match just started):

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

Funnily enough, I just started messing around with Shredder 5 as well (but not 5.32).
The game you posted is quite nice and something I like about those older engines.
You see more mistakes, sacrifices and swift victories which can be instructive for learning players and give good content for lessons as well.
Most of the moves are logical and the game proceeds down a logical, human-like course.
Of the older engines, I myself have recently been messing around with:
Shredder 5, Nimzo 2000b, Thinker 5.1e Passive (Also 5.1c, 5.2c and others), Junior 10.1, Gandalf 4.32, Prodeo 1.0, Zarkov 4.99, Hiarcs 10, The King, Crafty 22.8, Amyan 1.72, AnMon 5.53 and others lol.
Then there's the personalities I made from Rodent, Prodeo and other engines which are all fascinating.
Always lots of fun.

Re: From two older engines
Interesting ending from 2 old engines in a match this morning.
With Stockfish evaluating the position as a checkmate by Black in 15 moves, Black blundered with getting out of check by taking the a5 pawn.
The game ended in Stalemate soon after.
