I have lots of machines of all kinds analyzing around the clock.
I never had a machine crash, but I have had chess programs crash many times.
Stockfish crashes more than Komodo (maybe once in a month on a single machine).

Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

It solely depends upon the efficiency of the processor-cooler you are going to use.Ponti wrote:If I get a Ryzen computer to analyse 24/7 a position from the opening, using all 8 cores to the engine, how hot will the processor get ?
I don't have a Ryzen processor but an Intel 5960X and an Intel 6950X, both overclocked to 4GHz. and air cooled with a Noctua NH-D15. Under full load (with a chess engine) I usually see CPU temperatures between 50 and 55 degrees Celcius, in the summer when it is very hot this figure gets ~10 deg. C higher.
Most of the time have my systems running at full load and I never experience crashes due to Windows or faulty hardware. On occasion a program will crash but this is always caused by a bug in the program itself.
