In this case Shredder doesn't respect the FEN format and doesn't send the half move number and the full move counter.

I'm not a fan of accepting a broader definition than the official one because it only perpetuates buggy implementations. However, dropping the last two fields of FEN seems to be really common and popular GUIs like Shredder force me to choose between users and the correct implementation.

Edit: I sent an email to Shredder support email. Since I don't expect this to be fixed anytime soon, I will probably commit an workaround on my side.

I am very interested to see the answer, as Stefan is normally not amused, if his uci protocol is not correct implemented in uci-engines

I've updated the binaries fixing the issues reported so far. Thanks for your help, let me know if it works for you now.

I'm reusing this thread to announce a preview release for the next version of my engine.

darwin http://www.zurichess.xyz/zurichess-master-darwin-amd64
linux http://www.zurichess.xyz/zurichess-master-linux-amd64
windows http://www.zurichess.xyz/zurichess-mast ... -amd64.exe

These binaries are compiled from the latest sources at https://bitbucket.org/zurichess/zurichess/overview

This is not an official release, just a release candidate. In the past some of you helped me identify bugs that are not normally covered by my regular tests. When ready I will follow up with a detailed list of changes and expected Elo gain from the previous version.

Please help me test the new version.
