Considering the appearance of your graph, I think that the book using the HERT opening set is bad.pohl4711 wrote:Testrun of asmBrainFish 171107 finished.

You might try a single data point with the old book and everything else the same (time control, engine version) and see if the point rises 25 Elo.
The time control is not nearly enough to explain the compression. Ratings at 40/4 and 40/40 do not show that sort of compression at all.
So it is the book or a bug introduced into both programs AsmFish and Stockfish. But AsmBrainfish and Brainfish do not seem to be affected. The only difference between BrainFish or AsmBrainfish and Stockfish or AsmFish is the {internal} book.
If there were a bug in the SF or AsmFish code, I would expect BrainFish and AsmFish to also be depressed. And if it was time control, then again BrainFish and AsmFish would also be similarly affected.
Just a thought.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.
