Otherwise, the King's Gambit is very playable, last time I couldn't bust it, so it'd probably provide a much more interesting draw than the Spanish.
Ok, a King's Gambit it is!

2.f4!

I hope I don't regret this...LOL :D :D :D

Awesome!

Now, my King's Gambit is very rusty, let me get my theory up to speed and then I'll pick the best that I can.

If you wanted me to abandon all my ideas of playing for a draw and overreach this may be it!

Mine's a LITTLE rusty as well! Trying to dust it off and giving it the once over right now.

Well, that was fast, not much has changed since November 2017 (last time I looked at this), my mainline is still my mainline, and white still gets to decide where the game goes.

A KGA ! Exciting choice, let's hope for some fireworks.

I'll be rooting for white to win with this opening choice. :D

I have found - at least when computers play, it's very difficult for white to get the full point here. I played it once in ICCF, against a much lower rated opponent. It took me quite a while to get the initiative . I haven't played it since.

I've never played it in a serious game, except as black. I guess if you're going to play it as white, this is the place to do it, since it doesn't cost you any rating points.

I'm not sure what I'm expecting. I haven't even decide on a 3rd move yet. Only two real choices and I've never played anything other than Nf3 here. But I'm going to take a look at what else the position has to offer.

I have 3.Bc4 as best here with a mainline that goes into the 40s moves... then again I always looked at these positions with the mindset that white would be lucky to escape with a draw, so, huh...

I'll also be rooting for white, if I lose it with what I have it'd become the most instructive game of my life!

At least for a while, I'll be kibitzing with the current Stockfish-dev (bench 5168890). Contempt = 0, AnalysisContempt = Off, 6-man Syzygy tables, 20 threads, 64 GB hash.

If you would like to demonstrate your ability to predict what Stockfish would play, feel free to do so. Simply state what move you think Stockfish would make before Zenmastur actually posts his move. And then, once Zenmastur announces his move, I'll simply let you know if your prediction matched what my Stockfish would have played. To avoid interfering with the game, all I tell you is "right" or "wrong".

If you'd rather not do this, that's certainly OK too.

My abilities have never been about being able to predict Stockfish's moves with *precision* (having a high percentage hit rate of what moves it's going to play), but with *accuracy* (for instance, if there's 4 ways to get to some position, I have no idea about what it would play, so I could fail 3 of those moves, yet predict accurately the position it wanted to reach - even in my first 1.g4 game I predicted a position deep into the future despite my opponent playing 2 unexpected move orders). This has always been about detecting "parrots" (I have much easier games if they just send back Stockfish moves as I can go very deep into the lines they'e going to play) and setting traps against them (something as simple as aiming for a position where Komodo plays better moves than Stockfish, so I use it to perform better than them without much effort.)

I'm copping out because I'm still hopeful about playing a game against "you" (or your machine) in the future, showcasing these abilities live in a game. And I promise that I'll be truthful about the moves that high Depth Stockfish played that I didn't expect, in the same way I did in my game against Harvey, if we ever do it.
