Honey XI-r2 RELEASE

Post by MikeB »

It is my pleasure to release Honey XI-r2 and related binaries to Chess enthusiasts everywhere.

Source & Binaires:
https://github.com/MichaelB7/Stockfish/ ... /tag/XI-r2

One new feature is that when Honey (and the other related engines ) find mate, the text will immediately turn green - you no longer have to squint your eyes

It tested at a 15 Elo gain against XI-r1 - self-play is generally overstated , so up to a 15 point Elo gain.
However, only Honey has the new splash screen at startup as shown below. Also note that mate was found, the font color automatically changed. Of course, if you are using that color combination as your default, you will not see the change.

Enjoy!

Hi Michael.

Do you want RPi binaries, I’m not getting any response from my emails to you?

I'm not getting your emails? Not sure what the deal is. Wait - I just saw there is an issue in GUI's - prob wont work in Pico chess either . I know what it is - it wont take long. Will get back to you.

Everyone else - the current exe's are suitable for console window only. Will post a fix asap.

Thanks a lot Michael!
This time modern compiles work with Win7x64 and more than 16G hash too.

May I ask what the Pro Value and what Sleep does?

Awesome - Pro Value does a wider search at low depths using mulitpv , with a cutoff after so many additional nodes are searched. It use factor based on the time control, the longer the TC, the higher the additional nodes it is allowed to search. A setting of 26 (default) , is an additional 26000 nodes per second. The additional nodes come from using multipv( Note: using Tactical deactivates both Pro Value and DPA). Pro Value only works with a time control. go depth and and go infinite do not trigger any TC code. So when using go depth or go infinite, check Deep Pro Value . If both DPA and Pro Value are checked, Pro Value is off and DPA is ON. DPA, when on, uses the same function but the total number of additional nodes is 26000 times 900 or 23,400,000. It assumes you will be running the analysis for 15 minutes. Keep in mind all the additional nodes are at low depth.

Sleep is to be used with UCI_LimitStrength. Normally when you play LimitStrength, the engine will plat instantly as it is only searching very few nodes relative to normal SF, With sleep checked, it will compute its move, go to sleep and based on TC you selected, will play the move - to simulate as if you were playing a human at the TC selected.

Also, I have added the Windows Modern and Bmi2 exe's to Github that have the GUI fix. Tested with Winboard and CuteChess. Will complete the Windows Builds, then Linux finish with macOS. All together, it's 100 unique engines - 10 engines with 10 different CPU and OS configurations

Thanks for the prompt and detailed answer but in Fritz (14) and Shredder (13) engine freezes after just one move in game play and or start- stop-start in analysis mode. Sleep unchecked (default) as well as adaptive play.
Saw site has changed since my first download, only modern Windows now, gave it a try too, but this one compile doesn't install now on my Win7x64 anymore at all.
