I think it does ponder in general, but once it doesn't get a ponderhit, it is likely to not ponder again in a given game (sth to look at I assume). At least ponder doesn't work as you'd expect it to.

I want to comment on sth else. I used to be into WinBoard engines in the old times and knew how to set them up, not anymore. Setup-wise ProDeo is one of the most complicated engines imagineable using Polyglot, using WB2Uci, ini-files, you name it. But once I figured out what to do with a .7z file ( and even I managed to get that one fast), the rest was a piece of cake as I had to do zilch. It just had optimable settings everywhere as default and behaved just like your ordinary UCI engine - I was impressed.

You have to edit the *.eng (ProDeo.eng) located in the subdirectory called 'personal'. Edit the [Permanent Brain = off] section to on.
I am impressed by this kind of detective work. 8-)

Indeed, well done.
Thanks, it worked like a charm.
And I did previously check the ProDeo.eng file, but nope, I searched for the keyword "ponder" :? ...
Thanks again
