It is possible to beat stockfish with queen odds

Post by Uri Blass »

I used time control of 40 seconds for 40 moves and got the following pgn
2048 mbytes for every engine.
Stockfish won the match 19-1 becuase it usually won as black but in this game stockfish lost.
I used opening book with all possible 20 legal moves of white.

Here is another draw from a second tournament that I played.
It seems that stockfish had a bad time management.

Code: Select all

Explanations:
M# = move number
WM = White move
WE = White Eval
WD = White Eval
WT = White time
WDA = White depth average
WTS = White time sum
WTT% =White time total percentage
BM = Black move
BE = Black Eval
BD = Black Eval
BT = Black time
BDA = Black depth average
BTS = Black time sum
BTT% = Black time total percentage

(depth removed for mate scores, because those numbers are incomparable)
The reason to have 4 threads for Wasp is that I wanted to see if it is possible to beat stockfish with 1 core in that time control.
see the following thread(I sometimes have problem to post here and get forbidden error so I post there)
https://prodeo.actieforum.com/t545-how- ... me-control

I found that Wasp with 4 threads could also beat stockfish with 1 core at 1+1 time control.
When I tried 1 thread Wasp won all 20 games but maybe Wasp missed a draw and I am not sure.

See the following game:
After 66.Nc4 at least black need to sacrifice a piece to try to win if white does not let him to trade pieces like wasp.

I used opening book with all possible 20 legal moves of white.

Very nice discovery Uri! I could only check with and old Toga from 2013 on even older hardware, but it seems in this game 33... Nc8 is a blunder from which there is no recovering. Even Toga sees this after 98 seconds :D and there is a massive Fail High. Toga does not get more than 12 plies deep here... After 33...Nc8??

place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you

I see I picked a pgn from a post on Ed's site, so the example is valid, but it was a different game that Uri showed there: https://prodeo.actieforum.com/t545-how- ... me-control
