I remember Hiarcs 3 and Hiarcs 6. I had them on 3,5" floopy. They looked almost the same except the background was grey. Amazing memories. And those lovely pieces. Such a pity that Hiarcs is dead these days. But I still use HCE as my primary GUI.

Great! It works fine here too (DOSBox, Linux). Thank you for the information.

Other games that I have so far in my collection: Battle Chess, Cyrus, Fritz (1, 2, 2.5.1).

P.-S. I had forgotten Nero 5. But, since I ported it to Free Pascal, I no longer need to use the DOS version.

That's all? ;)

If you want a complete collection, then you could download my 'Chess-DOS-VirtualMachine' version
with almost all existing DOS chess programs (about 220!) - here's my website:

BTW, Fritz 2.51 is a faked version, it's just Fritz 2.00 with a patched version number.

Regards,
Franz

Downloaded, thanks. But it looks to be Windows-only, am I wrong? I don't see the DOS binaries in the package.

I will try it when I am at office. :)

Yes, the VMs are Windows programs - the chess DOS binaries are installed on the virtual HD image and can be
used when you start either DosBox-X or Qemu (then just run CHESS.BAT on the DOS prompt).

Anyone know where you can download CS Tal 2 from? Doesn't seem to be on the list in the DOS collection..? I thought it was made publically available a while ago?
