Wasp 5.20 Released

Post by jstanback »

Wasp 5.20 is released. My testing shows more than 20 Elo improvement over Wasp 5.00. Also, this version supports FRC. It can be downloaded from Frank Quisinsky's website: https://www.amateurschach.de/. Many thanks to Frank for hosting Wasp on his website!

Happy New Year!

James, may I suggest something.

I'd like different versions to have different default NN names. Reason is that I would like to have all versions in the same folder and also run them.
As things stand currently, I had to rename the net supplied with version 5.20, then copy the name in the corresponding engine parameter field.

Here is a way to do that.
1. copy nn.bin to wasp520nn.bin
2. create a file called wasp520.cfg which contains the following line:
NN_File = wasp520nn.bin
(it could also contain other UCI commands)
3. start Wasp with the command "Wasp520-windows-avx -cfg wasp520.cfg"

Thanks John, and apologies for the mstake with the name. I was thinking I was writing to James Swafford, author of Prophet.

Thanks John! I finally got around to playing a 6 game match with Chiron 5.0.1. They are now playing their last game, if Wasp can hold at least a draw it will win because of this jewel of a game. :D The match score after 5 games is 4 Draws and 1 Win in favor of Wasp 5.20. Each engine used their own books and ran using 2 Threads each. Enjoy the fireworks!
