Berserk 8.5.1
This is a bug-fix release for 8.5 which had issues with cyclical time controls (40 moves in 15 minutes). For non-cyclical TCs, this will represent no changes.

Any ideas ?

It will install once the 'cannot analyse' box is ticked.

Nor does it load in the Shredder GUI. The GUI says it is not an UCI engine. That is typical when loading takes too long. I noticed when run from the comand line that before displaying its name it fills the screen with empty spaces so that must be the problem.

I'm not sure that this thread will serve its intended purpose. Why should an engine author read this regularly to find if there is something wrong with his engine?
Also, the thread will disappear from the front page every now and then. If you want to post some report you will have to go and search for it.
In my view bug reports should go under the name of the engine they deal with, that is, a different thread for each engine.

Just a few words,Gabor Szots wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 9:21 am I'm not sure that this thread will serve its intended purpose. Why should an engine author read this regularly to find if there is something wrong with his engine?

In my view bug reports should go under the name of the engine they deal with, that is, a different thread for each engine.
The main reason for this separate thread was to unburden the release thread from everything else, as it got out of hand last year.
This was the 'intended' purpose and 'bug reports' just appears at second place and should be considered a generalization
for everything, which is not 'discussions' about the releases.
And not everything which appears to be a bug for some users, really is a bug too. If it is pre-'discussed' here, other users
can help and clear this up (or not) for them.
We could of course omit the '+ bug reports' part, if mods allow this, but (real) bug reports should be reported always
in detail via mail/PM/github issue/whatever to the according authors in the first place.
Still a majority of authors of chess engines don't even read talkchess at all.
Moreover knowing about bugs is not only interesting for the authors of course.
No one is 'forced' to place a bug report in this thread that should be clear.
A good thing though would be that this thread and the release thread could be fixed at the top, but that is only in the
hands of the moderators and I don't know if they like that, nor if they care at all anymore about this general forum.
At least having both threads on top would diminish the chance people would pick up the 'wrong' thread again and again
in the future.
