I kept playing two games with superiority, extra pawn and Knight vs pawn. I got two worthless bonuses. You played from a total drawn position expecting... what you got?
Eduard wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 11:47 pm I have a fundamental problem with the tournament. I haven't gotten around to evaluating the other games yet, but mine.

Ozymandias was luckier than me. His opponents even played 1.b3. But even then he couldn't win a game.
It shows, making generalizations about a tournament, without taking a look at what others played is surely the way to go.

Luck? You must be joking, you got a free point mate. 1 b3 is as much a draw as anything else. I bet you a $100 I can play it against you without problems.

In the two games I would have been ashamed to play like that. You had nothing. The one pawn was worth more against your knight than your knight. Your opponent could immediately promote to queen, and then there was queen against your knight on the board. Objectively, you were therefore in a worse position.

I won't argue with you further because you are incapable of objectively judging positions.

Keep your bet to yourself, if we should play against each other then so be it and we'll see what happens.

The fact is that no one was better than another. You neither!

There were wins due to timeout, missing, and gross errors (mouse errors or similar).
This was due to the playing styles of most players (including you, me and Arno).

The risk wasn't there. The fear of being down a pawn at the end of a game influenced the openings chosen.

Why do you and Arno always have played e5 on 1 e4 and d5 against 1.d4? Because that's the best with the new rules.

I've seen enough to judge. And it will be even more blatant when the next tournament will lack some people who didn't appear in games and when the people you won (stalemate) against with simple tricks deal more intensively with the new rules. Then comes the total draw death and there will only be boring e4e5 and d4d5 games. Have a nice day.

I thought you weren't going to argue with me anymore, and yet... BTW, it's not just my judging of the position, Arno's report describes the game accurately, but I guess only your judging is valid. The other game speaks for itself, Bishop + pawn vs Bishop. Was the lone Bishop worth more, too?

On the other hand, taking a point from someone who's previously posted in the chat that he had PC problems, when you're already in a totally drawn position... that's beyond shameless.

You don't want to put your money were your mouth is, that's OK, some say it's not advisable when it moves below the waistline.

I can't speak for Arno, but I played with black e5 and d5 because I think it's best, new rules or not.

Which game are you talking about?

As for me, I've always been fair. In my winning game I was able to claim victory after 15 minutes according to the rules! Arno asked me in the chat "do you want it?"! I told him NO. But then my opponent exceeded his normal time and had 0.00 on the clock. If the clock stands like this, you've lost (Or should we turn back the clock? Yes? At what time?). I'm sorry, but I wasn't unfair! So don't be rude to me. :(

White is playing for a Stalemate or Material win. Oblekiv this is a joke. Normally nothing works here - unless the opponent doesn't know the new rules!

Who ist better objekiv? Black can instantly promote to a queen and is then objectively queen against knight.

If there are no simple tricks involved here, then there are none. The new league will be called the Freestyle Champions League. If something like that happens there, you should rename the league to the Blunder League. haha.

I'm talking about those games exactly. In both of them I was better, the position you post, the only one where black can gain material advantage for a whole ply could only be reached because I allowed it, after seeing what Arno also saw in the report. I don't expect you to see it, but at least refrrain from being facetious.

As for your game, you should have drawn that, we all see that. The rule that says you can claim a victory if you're opponent doesn't show is for tournament manageability, it doesn't exclude personal ethic behavior (some went for the point, Kevin didn't). Your case is in that category too.

When the time runs out, you have lost. If there are rules, the TD should not ask whether someone is in agreement or not, but decide for himself after the rules.
What else would rules be good for?

I don't see the point in advancing the h-pawn, what about exchanging the pieces and gaining the opposition? Am I missing something?
The point is that maybe the opponent follow the computer move that say it is a draw and does not know the new rules.
You also won games when the opponent did a mistake only because the opponent did not know the rules or played the engine move without thinking about them.

Eduard is right and I see no difference between playing in the hope for a mistake and the fact that you continued and won by material or by stalemate in games.

I saw a line where a mistake could have happened if my opponent h4?! would have played. I wanted to be shown that, that my opponent doesn't play like that.

I just want to say that I legitimately wanted to play a few more moves when my opponent lost the connection.

I actually don't see the player being able to claim a win or not here:

Rule:
(1) In the event a participant suffers a disconnection from the chess server and the server does not reconnect automatically and the participant does not reconnect, he shall be informed via email and be given 10 minutes from the time of notification to return to and continue his game.
If he does not return within 10 minutes after notification a time penalty of 15 minutes applies, which might last in a lost game except from a "dead drawn" or "winning" position according the decision of the TD. In both those cases the game will be ruled a draw by the TD.
If the participant did not return after 15 minutes (though having been informed by the TD) he shall forfeit the game.
Alternately, if a participant suffers 3 disconnections during a game, even if he returns from the first two disconnects in less than 10 minutes, he shall automatically forfeit the game immediately at the instant of the 3rd disconnect, with a win granted to his opponent (with the only exception that the opponent has not sufficient material to win the game; e.g. only king left, then the TD would have to rule a draw). The TD is the only person who may issue rulings relating to the 10 minute period.

As it stands, the TD should have decided on a win for me, without asking me whether I wanted to win like this or not.
