Hello,
One of my students has Apple only so I cannot recommend him LucasChess. I could not find anything comparable to LucasChess for Macintosh.
I know that Hiarcs and Shredder are very polished products for Mac but I do not know how realistically they play as weak players.
Are there any weak Mac engines? Any rating list for them? This kid is about 1000-1200 at the moment.
Thank you for your time,
UCI Mac engine rating list?

just let him play on lichess. engines are terrible opponents to play against especially if you're learning

Maybe you copied your stockfish commits from someone else too?
I will look into that.

Thank you for your time,
Soon (a matter of days, max. 2 weeks) my website chessengeria.com will be launched
I cordially invite you to visit it. There will be a lot about engines and a workshop of a chess player using macOS computer. There will also be a ranking list of engines running on macOS
