I could NOT believe my Eyes when I saw Berserk resigning, Berserk has the biggest problem recognizing a drawn position since it does not probably have the opposition chess knowledge imbedded to recognize that it is a dead draw, since it does NOT have the Black Square Bishop which is needed to support the promotion of its h pawn to h8 = Queen, with the White Square Bishop it is impossible to win with two pawns and the wrong color Bishop

1. Berserk uses Syzygy tablebases, but you neglected them
2. Berserk as uci cannot resign only the GUI resigns for it (this was told about 111 times to you already)
3. W/o GUI resign it would still draw despite the eval w/o syzygy...

confirmed via game play here from this position

(now obsessed with simple B+ wrong P endings for beginners) WOW how wrong you are simple chess knowledge is what most top players use of the times, but they have a more imaginary mind then most of us pawn pusher have and they visualize favorable positions during their entire game.
This is NOT about using Syzyfy tablebases, it is about finding if Berserk or many other engines without the use of EBTB have the knowledge of reconizing when a position is Dead draw by the opposition principles imbedded, the simple B+ wrong P endings might be for beginners but in a position with 8-pieces if you do NOT comprehend the outcome of this position which you must visualize in your head how to reach it before making a plan and follow your pla then it is useless to have chess Knowledge according to my IM trainer unless you see any position and visualize certain reachable ending which like in this case it is for after you force to trade the Rook and sacrifice your Bishop.

Note: My trainer keep saying to me that all the chess knowledge will NOT help you unless you see certain position and visualize a possible and reachable favorable position 3 or 4 moves ahead and commit to your plan, then and only then you can apply for instance the Opposition principle to achieve a draw specially when you are already losing, this is NOT a swindle but how most top chess players play and apply their known chess knowledge.. For instance this position originally arrived from this one which NOT even Stockfish evaluate it as draw unless it play it out and later 3 or 4 moves ahead it recognize it as draw. For instance this is an 8-pieces endgame which most top engine can NOT solve immediately, unless you as a human who know the opposition principles take a moment and visualize the position that you stated that it a is simple B+ wrong p with the wrong color bishop to support the promotion. In any given game nobody will wisper you that your losing position could be drawn, if you apply what you already know or have learned thru chess ending, you and only you will have take a moment and visualize a favorable position that you can reach and for a Draw.

So if an expert reach this position sometimes they do NOT visualize a favorable ending that can save their game, but instead under time pressure make other not so favorable moves that lead them into disaster. See if any of your chess engines can solve this position and break it down to a simple drawn ending

So here again Berserk failed to sacrifice its Bishop on its 3rd move by NOT placing it on h3 which will guarantee a draw.

Re: Berserk 9

Post by Chessqueen »

If chess engine could speak they would entertain the hell out of all of us, this is how I believe a conversation between these two gladiators would go. Berserk for a long time thought that it was winning and Shredder8 kept on thinking what a fool from what planet is Berserk thinking that it will beat me with the White Bishop and 2 h pawns, Ha ha ha, so the game was a very long long gang Berserk kept its hope for a very very long time, and Shredder8 was enjoying every single move and singing out loud, I will teach you a lesson for NOT having opposition knowledge on on your algorithm

I don’t understand why you think the “opposition principle” has anything to do with this position. To draw it, after forcing the rooks off the board and playing …Bh3, all black needs to do is simply to occupy or control with his king the queening square, h8.

Well after Bh3 which is the move the guarantee the draw, when I reverse the engine and let Berserk take the Black pieces it will never ever probably until next version Sac it's Bishop, but even after the Bishop is Sac the Black King has to keep an opposition distance from the White King if Not the White King will penetrate and help promote its h pawn without needing a Black Bishop to help him accomplish the task.

You dont need any opposition, you just need to go to h8.
End of story.

Hi,
is there a reason you do not provide an AVX 512 compile now?

Fine the point here is that Berserk and many other 3400 engines do NOT play Bh3 forcing the Draw, end of the story. I already tested over 6 engines above 3400 that does NOT realize the simple Bishop Sac, so they have to depend on 6-pieces EGTB to get a draw when down 2 pawns. So many engines above 3400 will NOT Sac the Bishop after forcing the Rook trade, they have to depend on EGTB. See if any of your chess engines above 3400 can solve this position and break it down to a simple drawn ending
