Updating Fritz 18 to latest version

Post by reflectionofpower »

Just tried updating it to version 10. It just stood there like it was stuck. Ended the task. Is anyone else getting this behavior? Now it will not show me "You have latest update" message

I ended up killing the task with task manager. Then I used 7 zip to extract the Fritz engine it had problems installing from the GUIUP file.

18.10
- Figurine in openings key.
- Private engine reconnected as public after server maintenance.
- Bug in evaluation display of GUI tablebase access.
- Bug in coloring of current variation.
- Diagrams in training nota were not correctly displayed.
- MouseOver replay of variations in engine analysis also on single line display.
- Cursor keys active to replay an analysis variation while mouse over.
- Modified handling of repetitions in live book.
- Move input bug with combined always promote to queen, underpromotion, and new variation.
- Missing Gaviota in tablebase options info.
- Easy Game: Hint "That was a good hint" also appeared, when hinted move was not played at all.
- Display errors in training questions.

Where is the GUIUP file located, as I also have stalled at the engine installation task?

It is located on the C: drive: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\ChessBase\Updates

Also same problem.

Also with Fritz 18 GUI it does not see number of cores correctly on a windows server OS, f18 gui ver 7 says my machine is 64 threads/32 cores when it is actually 96 threads /48 cores. After doing update version 10, after task manger out and rebooting comp restart f18 it says version 10 installed but now my machine is 32 threads/ 16 cores .

I had the same problem with THIS update.
The GUI says it is now up-to-date, despite the hang.
However...this old laptop can't run AVX2, so I wonder if that was the problem.

Chessbase must intentionally make things difficult. Can anyone help me locate the Fritz 18 engines (Neuronal and standard)? I'm sure I found them once, but the location eludes me now.

Windows 10/11 64-bit:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ChessBase\Engines.uci\Fritz 18 (inside the Fritz 18 folder)

I hope this helps.
