OMG:

Stockfish 9
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X
NPS: 74,940,079
NOT overclocked
Pretty freakin' cool!

Intel i9-12900K...oh, just a bit over half that.

Stockfish 9 is from 2018  . Bench with SF 15 please? Seriously they say you can't beat anymore 8 core Stockfish from equal opening. Only benefit from fast processor is, that you solve (artificial) testpositions faster.

I was reading a review on Anandtech, very big gains in both performance and efficiency. Incredible job from AMD.

AMD did a bad job with the Zen 4 cpu, because it goes the old Intel path with higher powerconsumption.

I stay with my Zen3.

At stock, i.e. 230W, the efficiency is actually worse than for the 5950X, measured in energy consumption to complete a given job. That's where AMD's marketing is misleading. However, configuring the 7950X down to 142W package power (i.e. like 5950X) loses only about 5-10% performance while still being 35% faster than the 5950X.

It is more efficient, but yes higher power consumption at full tilt along with massively improved performance.

So will I, simply because it will be fast enough for me for years to come. No need for anything new.

With scalar code the 7950X is very fast, with SIMD code Intel still has the upper hand.

And I wonder how long a processor that runs at 95 deg. C will stay alive.

For boxed CPUs (as opposed to tray), AMD offers a three years warranty, suggesting that this is for how long AMD expects its CPUs to generally last. 8-)

Buy a brand new BMW car in the UK and it comes with a 3-year warranty. So according to your logic BMW is saying that they expect their cars to last just 3 years.
