My (rather unprofessional, but successful) solution has been to either try loading the application again after it crashes, and/or to go to
C:\Users\(your username here)\AppData\Roaming\BanksiaGUI
then deleting all the files in there that are not engine related, then loading the application back up, and then trial and error until it works again.
I didi that also but after I open it and changed it in the settings again then I repeat the process, it won't still open. If I won't change the settings, it opens but after I touch the settings and after I close it, still it won't open after I exit the application.

I also have the problem with 0.56 version not opening again after closing the app. Windows 11 in case the problem is unique to OS.

The problem seems to be the banksialayout.dat file since if you delete that one file only it will start but of course any customization is gone.

I believe this makes sense since the behavior is the application window is all white with the cursor spinning as it seems to can't read / process the layout data file and eventually quits.

Unfortunately I also had the same problem (Windows 10 newest). After starting and closing Banksia, the GUI would not start again. The window closed immediately. I didn't know why. So I installed an old Banksia GUI (0.53) and it ran without any problems. If I closed version 0.53 and then started version 0.56, version 0.56 would run again, but only once. I always had to start version 0.53 first so that I could start version 0.56 afterwards. After I had changed the layout a few times in version 0.56, the GUI could be started. After I set a different layout. Strange!

Pham, I've solved with the my workarounds suggested also here (losing layouts) but if you need more tests I'm available on BanksiaGui forum tests topic for Win 10, 11 and macOS 13.6 :)
