@John Merlino — can you do me a favor and see how The King handles the following position. Qxg6+ is mate in 15, but Stockfish and many other engines struggle:

Yeah, The King has a tough time as well. If I force the first six ply (1.Qxg6+ Kxg6 2.Bd3+ Kh5 3.g4+ Kxg4), then The King announces Mate in 12 in 1:52. I imagine from the initial position it would take more than an hour.

Thanks John — I was expecting The King to do much better than this. This position is a test of how well an engine handles mate threats. Rybka is incredibly good at it.

thx! got the same answer; however, it took me 4,437,740,147 nodes; white: 3,666,50,804; black: 770,789,343; time: 1:47:15 from 6-ply in. I can just imagine the time from 1. QxN+
