Mike, the scriptures are simply wrong. And this is dangeorus thinking actually because there is no evidence of any maker.
We are made of star stuff and I believe we simply cease to exist when we die, probably forever, meaning there is no heaven or hell or anything really, just eternal unconsciousness.
Physics, chemistry and biology can really explain everything in existence, including the existence of all life on this planet and including the existence of humans and it's completely irrational and unscientific to say otherwise.
As you can see, the site also discusses quantum mechanics and the other theories of modern physics, such as electromagnetism.
The human mind (including geniuses, now and in the future) is still biologically limited to understand the entire Universe. Beyond a horizon (some call it the "Planck wall of human knowledge") everything becomes unclear, hard to explain. Everyone believes what they want. I believe that we are far too optimistic to consider man an omniscient entity. Probably, I haven't evolved too much from the condition of an animal. That is why there are so many atrocities.
Uri is a scientist and is not afraid to say what he thinks when he sees no evidence. While I do not agree with him, I agree that many religions are man made and mostly came from the need to control the masses. On the other hand I can not deny the existence of a creator. If you are a curious person and like to read about the vastness of the universe, the mystery and order of life, quantum weirdness etc you quickly come to realize (at least that is where I am) that there must be a creator. We are so proud of our efforts to understand the universe around us that, we often become overconfident in our theories.

Sorry, this is not the Uri you thought he is...
Well, I guess he is from the far opposite of a 'scientist'.

Exactly.
The (only) question left is why the Creator created and why this way.
These are 2 separate issues.
And that's why religion moves in.
And we have so many.
90% of coding is debugging, the other 10% is writing bugs.

Not everything can be explained by science, which is why I belong to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. One day we will all be touched by his noodly appendage. Ramen.
