Under Windows 10 and Ubuntu 20/22 it does.
Thanks for the bug report! I will check that issue.

I didn't change the compiling system thus logically it should run with Win 7 64-bit. It may take a while since I don't have any Win 7 at the moment.

There really are new functions after my last test - great work! So far I tested only testsuite function. Extra ply function don't work and it took always maximum time to solve. A lot of wasted time.
Thanks for the report.
There is a bug with Testsuit feature and it is fixed for the next release (soon).

If you see the speed of BSG downloading become too slow, just cancel it, wait for a bit then re-download. I have been using a budget server thus sometimes the speed is throttled.

Version 0.57 (New Year/rc0 version) released

Post by phhnguyen »

Version 0.57 (New Year/rc0 version) released

This version is rc0 to prepare for the first official version (1.0)!

Besides some minor bug fixes, many small improvements and changes, there are some new things, including:
  • Edit variations (Fig. 1)
  • Display a text in the middle of the board (Fig. 1)
  • A new choice to view the database tree in the form of a tree (differ from the flat view, page by page to view one node each time) (Fig. 2)
  • Codesign and notarise for macOS/Apple Silicon binaries. Now users can start the app in a quicker and safer way (users don't need to shut down Gatekeeper for the app)

Fig. 1 Add/edit variations; show text in the middle of the board

Fig. 2 Another way to show the database tree as a tree, instead of the flat tree by showing node by node

Same problem here. My solution was:
Reset default settings by renaming the folder %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\BanksiaGUI to some other name. After first start of Banksia (now with normal color) you may copy the banksiaengines.json file from the renamed to the newly created folder to preserve your installed engines.

I can't wait for version 1.0 !
Unfortunately, I'm not reviewing the beta version and I'm looking forward to the official release.
Thank you for your hard work and releasing another version of Banksia GUI.

Just select a theme or re-set up board via Settings dialogbox.

I have added some new built-in materials thus BSG may understand wrongly saved materials.

There is a major bug in Banksia GUI, when a new engine is added, the logo is incorrect. This is due to the GUI selecting the incorrect folder and logo name. This bug has been present since version 0.54 and beyond. It works properly from version 0.53 and earlier. Please fix this bug.

Thank a lot for the bug report. It will be fixed for the next release!
(the cause is that BSG auto-remembered the previous logo path and then set it for the latter engines)

TO ALL: if you see any bug, or issue even if you think it is small/minor, please report it. We have been working on the fewest bugs/issues for the official first release 1.0.

All help will be highly appreciated.

There is some bug in the GUI that allow it to play king vs king position.

I played stockfish 10M nodes per move as white against stockfish 1M nodes per move for black
both sides used 16 mbytes hash and 1 thread.

Black started from the position after 1.g4

Result was a draw but game continue for many move in K vs K position and refuse to stop.

Now it is move 1900 and the game continue.

I do not know how many moves of king vs king the gui needs to stop the game but it is obvious that more than 1800 moves.
I also see no option to adjudicate the game.
