Re: Deep Junior Yokohama
This version is almost 10 years old, and the majority of the codebase probably several years older than that. Older software often does continue to work perfectly fine on modern hardware, but sometimes you have to accept that it simply won't. For me, Zappa Mexico is a case in point. Works on Intel 10th gen, but on AMD Zen 3 it frequently just stops calculating and doesn't make any more moves.

Because you're setting up the Zappa Mexico engine wrong. I also noticed something very important. When I use the 32 bit version, the engine works fine.If I use the 64 bit version it no longer works.Modern Times wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 8:25 am This version is almost 10 years old, and the majority of the codebase probably several years older than that. I'm referring to the 64-bit version. It works fine on Intel 10th gen but has issues on Zen 3, configured exactly the same.

It's this I think. Shame there's no patch.Modern Times wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 8:25 am This version is almost 10 years old, and the majority of the codebase probably several years older than that. I use the Zappa Mexico II x64 version now and then, and I have no problems with that one either on my Zen 4800H either. I like using the Dissident Aggressor settings.

I tried it with ponder-on online play for Joost's monthly tournaments. Intel 10th Gen no problems. But with the exact same config on a Rysen 5900X, sometimes it would play a game just fine but other times it would just stops making moves, CPU usage drop to zero, and lose the game. Never got to the bottom of it, but no matter.reflectionofpower wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 2:08 pm I use the Zappa Mexico II x64 version now and then, and I have no problems with that one either on my Zen 4800H either. Probably the OS since they had to change it to support Windows XP (which came out in 2001).Krzysztof Grzelak wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 6:56 pmThank you for your answer. Ah, it is not as bad as I thought. Windows XP support was added in 2013 to support people still running XP. I thought for a moment it was developed for Windows 98 and needed a patch to run on XP.syzygy wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 4:06 pmProbably the OS since they had to change it to support Windows XP (which came out in 2001).Krzysztof Grzelak wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 6:56 pmThank you for your answer. Re: Deep Junior Yokohama
Perhaps you can try with an old version of msvcrt.dll.
