I am pretty sure that this download doesn't contain the network file that is (was) sold with FF2. It contains FatFritz2_v1.bin which imo is the weaker network that was for download long before the lawsuit against ChessBase. The complete source stockfish-ff2.zip was for download since 02/2021.
And before you ask me: I have no idea if the court said anything about giving the sold network file for free to the public.

It is exactly the same filesize as the net that came with the commercial product, but that is not definitive.

The difference with the current developer version of Stockfish is about 220 Elo with this net. If I can trust my short test on Android with very short thinking time (tc=10+0.1) and only 500 games (for the sake of the battery). Offset for rating of one of the engines was not set in Bayeselo.

Code: Select all

Rank Name Rating Δ + - # Σ Σ% W L D W% =% OppR
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   1 Stockfish 230209 3211 0.0 12 12 500 397.5 79.5 325 30 145 65.0 29.0 2989
   2 Fat Fritz 2 2989 222.3 12 12 500 102.5 20.5 30 325 145 6.0 29.0 3211
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Δ = delta from the next higher rated opponent
  # = number of games played
Σ = total score, 1 point for win, 1/2 point for draw
Is "FatFritz2_v1.bin" the original network of Fat Fritz 2, which was sold by Chessbase?
Answer from ChatGPT:
Yes, "FatFritz2_v1.bin" is the original neural network model used in the commercial version of Fat Fritz 2 that was sold by Chessbase. This is the primary neural network that powers the chess engine's evaluation function and is responsible for its playing strength.

"the net is here https://github.com/DanielUranga/Stockfi ... tz2_v1.bin but again that is not the sold version"
Just digging out additional past information for verification...
