Perhaps it is a new Shredder or Hiarcs. Both are very talented individuals who seem to be retired but may come back with a bang !

My bets would still be on a new Dragon MCTS.

Right now a challenger Bullet Mystery- Dragon's running with Mystery having the edge after only nearly 100 games but 1000 planned.
Could imagine Dragon could be playing MCTS- mode now too maybe.
Hiarcs NNUE, as I read recently in its own forum, probably isn't to be expected so very soon, at least no announcements there so far.
Shredder (and Hiarcs) would rather play at ICGA- tournament right now, if it was ready to release for PC and it's not so long ago that an NNUE- version (13.5) was published for dedicated Mephisto Phoenix.
CSTal NNUE2 recently released then didn't work with more then 16 threads and wasn't quite strong enough to play head to head with Dragon 3.2 as Mystery seems to do right now, regards

The engine is generally better at resolving mate scores than Dragon... that should provide 2 bits of interesting information .

MCTS- mode switches to A-B near to forced win at Dragon, anyhow that it's a dev.- version of same engine gets more and more probable. I just thought about primarily MCTS because in Bullet Semifinals Mystery still was behind Dragon

But maybe in now running challenger Mystery's already a little newer and stronger than it was in competition before. Guess chess.com will lift the secret soon, if it's them to sell Dragon as their very own product now, regards
Peter.

Announcing Torch: New #2 Chess Engine
CHESScom
CHESScom
Jul 13, 2023, 6:17 PM

Chess.com News
Torch is a brand-new chess engine built from the ground up by top chess engine developers. The team is composed of: Andrew Grant (Ethereal), Finn Eggers & Kim Kåhre (Koivisto), Jay Honnold (Berserk), and Michael Whiteley & Dietrich Kappe (Dragon). Mark Lefler and Larry Kaufman have been advisors to the project.

Many on the team have long discussed joining forces to produce an engine capable of contending with the best out there. Through the support and funding of Chess.com, we have done exactly that. A single unified effort by our developers has allowed us to rapidly produce the new number-two engine according to Torch’s performance in the Chess.com Computer Chess Championship. Our goal is to be number one.

Fascinating! I’m looking forward to testing it. Hopefully it’ll be available as a UCI engine and not just on chess.com

On one hand that's great news, on the other one: what will become of Dragon now?
And what about the abo- subscriptions still valid?
Already tried to log into my account at komodochess.com site, my email + password- combination isn't accepted anymore.
If the site is really down, I'd hope for some announcement by chess.com soon.

Now some programmers are joining forces to beat Stockfish. What is the goal? The goal can actually only be to bring out a new commercial engine.

The new group of programmers declares that their own engines have failed. Now they must join forces to achieve goals. I don't think this is for the good of the community. It's about marketing and honor. Otherwise you could join the Stockfish team to help. It would certainly not be uninteresting to bring in ideas for the SF network. The SF NNUE is getting bigger and bigger, it doesn't get much better. At SF 16, the network had a 1536 dimension, but just 2 days later the network was increased to 2048, and 2560 has been experimented with for a few days. I also tested the new huge network. Unfortunately it's not progress. For many months now, the new master NNUE has only come from Linrock. And it doesn't get much better.

We have fundamentally different ideas on what is good for the community. I believe that variety is the spice of life, and having avenues to develop and push forward new ideas is what is best for the community, any community. My 2 cents.
