I think it is pretty obvious that Hans Nieman had cheated in some way to reach his 2700+ level. I did look at several of his incredibly precise games that he won during his meteoric rise to 2700+ and I have absolutely no doubt that he was cheating in some of his over the board games. If it was up to me he would be banished from chess for life ... no honest chess player should have to deal with the psychological impact of wondering if Hans is a reformed cheater who is now honest ... or simply has found a newer and better way to circumvent newer and better anti cheating protocols. I have a feeling this is not the last we will hear of this, but if something positive has come out of this is that cheating in chess has become a much more difficult task.

I disagree I have seen zero evidence of over the board cheating for Hans. And Chess.com have stated that they weren't able to find any proof he cheated over the board and Magnus stated he accepts Chess.com's final report and that he is now willing to play chess against Hans in person. I hope all parties involved can move on and I hope we don't see such ugly witch hunts in the chess community again.

+1'But' humans are human and have some weird tendency to 'believe' things for reasons that have little or nothing to do with reality....and often perpetuate it for various reasons.

Remember...always look closely because if you look hard enough at the heart of the word BELIEVE we can often find the word 'lie'.

Well ... watching Titled Tuesday and assuming Hans was not cheating ... he scored 7 out of 11 and was outplayed by many players below his rating. It is also glaringly obvious that Hans is not the "best chess player in history" as per his statistical data in move accuracy has shown. He is an average GM who got a huge gain in ELO by cheating and being able to play with computer like accuracy. I have a feeling that he will not be able to deal with the fact that he is just an average GM and will try and find another way of cheating ... and will be caught and banished again. This is similar to many atheletes that have gone off doping after being caught ... but could not handle being average without doping. Let's see how long it takes before he is flagged again.

No, English is my primary language.
The point is that too many people are willing to...'believe' a lie. Trump has shown us that.

Well I guess I spoke too soon. Hans Nieman played against Kramnik on Chess.com and of all openings ... he went for non other than the Berlin Defense! And of course the brilliant and world's best player in history managed to totally outplay Kramnik in an opening that Kasparov felt he was bashing his head against concrete. Kramnik then requested a rematch and played an opening that allows a mate in one after 2 moves played. I guess he was trying to say something ... maybe?

Most of the top players of the past Kasparov, Kramnik, and Kartpov except Anand are NOT as strong as their Rating shows, because they do not keep active  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHxq0Hf9LWk

I think you missed the part where Kramnik had lost the game as white in the Berlin Defense. Hans Nieman managed to outplay him in the Berlin ... maybe you are not aware of what the connotations are of the Berlin Defense and Kramnik. Of course it could be that Hans Nieman had an inspired game where he managed to outplay Kramnik and play with computer like accuracy ... but with his cheating history ... I really doubt it and it seems Kramnik feels the same. Kramnik is still an extremely strong player and recently crushed Hikaru on Chess.com when Hikaru decided to play a funky opening. I do agree that he is not as strong as he once was ... but here we are talking about him being outplayed in the Berlin Defense.
